Well boss, you see, the funniest thing happened

well I know if you are coming up the hill from the tigers ground its well signposted I go that way from the High Cross to the Last Plantaganet. Looking at the remains of the bus it’s very lucky no-one died, and I personally don’t find bridge strikes funny at all, in fact it is a disgrace. A pearl I heard a couple of weeks ago was, “Well I run under 11ft 9 bridges”
“But the height marker says 12ft 6”
“that’s the max height with the suspension fully up, it’ll go under an 11ft 9”
“■■■■■■■■■

I think the balance has been fully addressed Rog and well done to all those who did- my point is only that it was very innappropriate and 1 of the moderators got involved in the post but didn’t do anything about it.
Maybe i have the wrong idea as to what is ok on a public forum-like someone mentioned I only hope no family members of anyone involved is on this site as a member

i think the thread has taken care of it self, nobody is laughing at kids being injured or in distress. if i pulled every thread that upset one person there wouldnt be many left. the thread at this moment is taking good care of it self.

ROG:
MAP OF CRASH SITE

The report in the post above this cannot get the road name correct !!

Its called tigers way now Rog, Waterloo way was changed to Tigers way when the tigers won the European cup I think.

Just looked on a new street map and the road name does change part way so the report is correct - Waterloo way changes to Tigers way before it gets to Lancaster
Some of us locals have always known it as Waterloo way…

I am going to try and get this back on track a little here…I just don`t get it?
How the hell can you do that?
What bit of the bridge did he not see■■? Surely the yellow striping would have alerted you to the fact, even in the fog, did he not see the signs, did he not know how tall a double deck bus was/is, does the driver suffer from some kind of sight impairment, did he not read the warnings given to him by the bus company…There are so many indicators to the fact that this bridge is a certain height…And he failed to take notice/spot/see/listen ETC.

No, I am not understanding what happened here

How about the driver…
getting distracted by the kids
looking for the route/map/listening to directions from a teacher
looking for traffic when turning the corner
checking mirrors
driver a little tired?
usually drives single deckers/coaches
…virtually everything EXCEPT the bridge height…

It should not happen but it does when we allow humans to drive…

I’m not making excuses for the driver but just showing what COULD be…

The bit I didn’t understand was from the bus company about the driver saying this was his regular bus on a regular run, but for some reason he took a different route to normal :open_mouth:

but it depends which paper you read…

Mr Rogers told the BBC that the 24-year-old driver was fairly experienced and was driving the vehicle he normally drives.

or this one…

Mr Rogers said the driver was experienced and had worked for the company for two spells, having recently returned a month ago. He added that the trip was a “one-off” job rather than a contract.

I have a one off job every day , as do most us us drivers here and I dont hit bridges , I use different height vehicles and drive in different conditions at different times of day and night and I still dont hit bridges , I have come across bridges that are not marked on the maps or even without signs on them and I still havent hit them , ( ive had plenty of reverses out of sticky situations though) but never hit the thing at any speed let alone the sort of speed that driver hit it at, to rip the whole top of the bus off

lol jesus christ…I think the majority of people on here have jumped onto the band wagon a bit too quickly…where on this post did I say I found it funny kids were injured on this incident■■? If you all read my original post it’s actually very clear I was taking the ■■■■ out of the driver being a tard. That’s the problem with this site, most of the members just skim read things and dont actually read it for what it is. I don’t find it funny that children got hurt, but I find it funny that the driver was stupid enough to realise his bus wasn’t going to fit through the bridge. Oh and just so you know, I work with children on a voluntary basis so I do care about them.

I bet you’d have all seen the funny side if the bus was empty, but no, you just carry on skim reading people. Hang on…didn’t the exact same thing happen the other week with a post from DAF95XF?..thats right, you all accused him of moaning about a transport manager asking him to do something and slated him for no reason. If the majority of people on here put a half arsed effort into their reading, it was actually very obvious that he was simply telling people how shocked he was that a transport manager asked him instead of told him to do something, he wasn’t moaning at all. So…to reitterate my point, I find it funny the driver was a tard, not that children got hurt :unamused:

The title reads,The funniest thing happened…I was a tard and crashed my bus.My knowledge of the written word leads me to believe that the post was made by the driver of the crashed bus.The words I and MY being the giveaway.I reiterate there is nothing funny about a road accidentThere was massive disruption to road and rail transport. The public will be put off using public transport and congestion will get worse.

You see the problem with posting something on a web forum, is that you write a post
with a particular tone in mind, however as it’s the written word, that tone does not
always come through to the reader, so more often than not, the tone is misconstrued.
Hence why smilies are used.

Had you said the same thing to some one face to face, the tone of your voice or
your body language would have indicated to them you were taking the ■■■■ of out
a situation.

Only problem with that colin is either he would’ve ended up feeling very alone very fast, or, sitting on the floor nursing a broken nose.

I know which one I would’ve done, having been a coach driver for many years and having gone uner a couple of low bridges myself, Caen ringroad is one tight one. I’ve also seen my fair share of buses trying to go under bridges that are WAAAAAY too low for them, Cow Bridge, Elstow Road, Bedford/Kempston, is a fair example of this. Most of the time it’s driver error that causes this to happen, namely for some reason the company have put a double instead of a single on that route, the driver hasnt thought and gone and peeled the roof off.

I honestly have no idea what you mean with this one. To me it looks like you’re asking about either mine or my girlfriends pubic hair arrangements, or making referrence to a vitacress post I done ages ago…?
