I am eye balling a Honda CG 125… or some newer honda 125… atm.
Was speaking to a lad at work. some of these little lawn mower engines can hit 200mpg… with a top speed of 60mph.

Me like that.

Think 200mpg is pushing it a bit, on the Honda forums they reckon the newer CBF125s do about 160mpg. My CBF125 is a 13 plate and does about 100mpg, as does my NC50.

Is that a Rover 75 I spot there?

You are a boomer! [emoji23]

I mean all I want right now is a cheap £500 honda bike or Yamaha and you can not find one anymore… I am not talking about a nice one either… I am talking about a rusted piece of crap that you can work on as a project… they are all £1000+ it is crazy.

Rare sight on the road these days. Any issues with it in the 10 years?

It’s been quite reliable, the only actual breakdowns I’ve had were the alternator failing, which could happen to anything, and a front spring broke which is a known issue with 75s. I did have to spend about £3,000 on it just over a year ago, water pump and thermostat (a pig of a job on these), ancillary drive belts, new brakes all round, handbrake shoes, rear brake backplates, rear shocks, drop links, wheel bearings x2, track rods, o/s sill welding, new exhaust rear section, suspension arms, wishbones, engine service and probably more I’ve forgotten.

Definitely more than the value of the car but having weighed up the alternatives, the fact that it was bought and paid for years ago with no ongoing monthly payments to worry about made it the best option.

Very impressive actually. I think hybrid is a much better option than full EV IMO, lots of toys and very clever.

Obviously nowhere near as fun to drive as the 3.2 V6 22 year old Merc parked behind it

Meh.
Pictures of the Mercedes please :sunglasses:

It’s amazing how much heavier the CBF125 is than the 125s I used to ride in the late 1970s/early 1980s.

And yes, the quality of Indian-built Hondas is nowhere near as good as the Japanese-built ones were. I think the CBF is made in Pakistan now.

Small update. I am getting a brand new CBF 125… next week.
I think they orginally made the CBF in Japan, then India, then Pakistan… the latest models are made in Italy though… which is where my 2023 Honda CBF 125 will be made.

Kinda funny that they picked the one country in Europe that is notorious for making unreliable cars to make their new bikes… lol.
:grimacing:

How much?

£3000 roughly.

Does it have a speed limiter active?

Damned if I know ^^^^ finding out would undoubtedly involve RTFMing and I’m a man and life is too short.

Tsk, I just sold my CBF125 for £1,200 but I would have let you have it for £1,500. :stuck_out_tongue:

Never had a 125 , went from a Suzuki ap50 to a Suzuki ts250m I think it was , interesting to know what they cost , must be round 1977 , but not got a clue , can’t remember , think I paid £1500 for a brand new Suzuki Gs1000s , but again long time ago so can’t remember
Most of the lads I knew who had 125,s had Suzuki gt 125 , or was it a gt185 , my memory is that poor , remember x7 250 , gt250 , sure there was a gt 125
