@blue estate Wow what a good guess on when I was looking to chop the Kia in :open_mouth:
Got a test drive booked at my local MG dealer next weekend to test the estate version
Already got a settlement figure for the Kia and I’m in positive equity

Saweet  Will be interested to hear how you go on with the test drive. MG seem to be on a roll at present with new models coming out shortly, The new Mulan/MG4 hot hatch will debut this year with a 0-100kph of 4 seconds, That’ll give a few big name brands a run for their money. carnewschina.com/2022/06/08/mg- … 4-seconds/

The Cyberstar is getting ready for production next year too, Is it a nod to a MGB roadster or MG TF roadster electric versions? Not many specs available yet. carnewschina.com/2022/06/09/mg- … -in-china/

Even talked my TM in to booking a test drive in one as well , he currently owns a Kia Sportage
This is the offer I’m looking at
richmondmotorgroup.com/mg/offers/mg5-ev/

Good luck but I do struggle with £30,000 for a normal run of the mill car , my mrs car was 15,995 and I said then I’d not pay more , times have changed as bloke was stunned when I said I’d pay cash for it ( less value of old car )
Not long ago you could get a reasonable house for £30, 000

I’m kinda with you on that doze, my theory is why pay a small fortune for something when you can spend a fraction on another car that does exactly the same job.
Don’t get me wrong if I could ''afford ‘’ 30k in terms of being able to pay it out in a one er,.snd think nothing of it,.as I was once able to in better times, I would …I suppose it all goes back to the old days when I went bust,so now I’m careful when it comes to large amounts of money.

I’m fortubate enough to have 2 lads in the motor trade, my eldest lad gives me the opportunity to buy stuff that comes into his Ford dealership that he runs…all legit and above board btw.
I bought a 5 year old Mondeo that came in with a knackered engine.that the lad rebuilt with a Ford warranty, it still runs perfectly 5 years later,.and it’s never missed a beat.

My Navara was a part ex that I picked up cheap there as well .I ran it for about 5 years again, and sold it last month (or my lad did) for more than I paid for it. :sunglasses:

I bought a Ford Grand C max 7 seater (yeh I know , but the wife wanted it :unamused:  ) top of range with sliding doors,.DAB, sat nav etc , full Ford breakdown back up.
Low mileage serviced by Fords since new, , well below bookprice, bought on minimum trade in fact.
It had a few mark’s here and there on paintwork, so my other lad who is a spray painter (and unlike me a perfectionist) sorted that for me.
So it looks virtually a brand new car, drives great and it’s paid for.
Only thing is now I’m driving around in the 61 plate Mondeo looking like Mr Average.

Dozy , I paid £217000 for my house back in 2007 just before the crash , zoopla has it valued at £400k now :open_mouth:
Car is on PCP so only paying £20k tops with a GFV of £12.5k after 4 years
My Kia is worth the same as I paid for it 2 years ago

I did say good luck to you , but I’m sure you posted the price of the car up as £29,000 ? That’s what I was commenting on , £30 k apx for a run of the mill car , but if you can buy one for £20 k then good luck , as for houses , my first house was apx £6,000 , the problem with house price rises is the next one you buy has gone up the same amount unless your prepared to say sell your 1 million pound house and buy one in Grantham for £300 k , but a lot who’ve done that have now gone back to London
My mate sold his house near Oxford & moved to Aberdeen ( yes I did say Aberdeen ) , apparently loads cheaper with land , he’s now coming back as it’s a bloody long way to visit his daughter who still lives in Oxford
Anyway hope you enjoy the car , but I’ll stick to paying 6 k cash for my focus , and running it into the ground , I’ve no £270 monthly payments or balloon payments at the contract end
I’m old & was brought up on paying cash for everything , but I do understand it’s a changing world ( I witness my daughters shenanigans) at times ,so do understand , but don’t necessarily agree with paying for stuff on the never/ never ( it’s a old saying , my daughter gives it a roll of her eyes when I trott it out )
As I say hope you enjoy the new car when you get it

Well had a call from the MG dealer today , car is due at the start of September
Now the race is on between my insurance finishing on the Kia and when I get my new car

Nice one, Hope everything works out. SAIC are pushing out more new MG models besides the electric models with the new MG 7 ICE ‘black label’ series of cars. carnewschina.com/2022/08/17/mg7 … -in-china/

Some ones been peeking at Jaguars design book

dozy:
1.0 focus titanium , 73 k , had it apx 16 months & been faultless , bought as we needed a family car ( 5 door ) , was unsure about a 1.0 in that size body but can’t fault it , done exactly what we brought it for , and as it’s a 65 plate the tax is only £25 ( who doesn’t like to save a few pennies ) , not exciting in any way but as a family car it’s ok , ignore what looks like faded bomnnet it’s spotlight on house

Now 82,000 , still running like clockwork , reading round it’s know as EcoBoom engine , as they blow up , lots at 30,000 , but this one has been faultless ,

No sense buying a new car anymore the prices are just too crazy.

I guess with a Toyota / Kia they have such a long warranty it can justify the cost.

Spoke too soon , after paying for service , £215 it apparently needs £498 spending on it , ( 3% water ingress in brake fluid being one ) , but don’t worry our sales team are doing the figures to put you into a new focus !!
I guess £498 p/ m + for 3 yrs & £8/9, 000 balloon payment will be cheaper than a one off £498 payment ( not that I’ll be paying that , no chance ) , engines fine though .

£498 a month is ■■■■■■■ nuts.

Agreed

Doesn’t that also justify a 3 yr old motor at half the price and still 2-4 yrs warranty left?

The Balloon payment is not compulsory. With the right deal you can hand the car back after three years!!

Was a fireblade yes. Thanks. Probably considered old by today’s standards but never put a foot wrong while I had it. Only really used for Scotland and Ireland trips think that was taken on Isle of Lewis atvthe lighthouse.

Looks like the front end of a Astra , looks ok to be honest , noticed a lot of dealers seem to be taking on mg franchises , sandicliffe notts where my car came from are now mg , still do Ford / Nissan though
Next time I pop in for something I’ll have a look at them

Just urned 90 k , still had no issues at all with it , up there with most reliable cars I’ve had , especially when it’s nickname is eco- boom , blow up at 30 k , think it’s time to move it on as 100k it won’t be worth anything
Never really settled with driving position so going to try kuga/ x trail

Never got bit of rust done & doesn’t look much different , looked at loads and never seen another one rusting there so got suspicions it was a bit of damage left as noticed a bit of paintwork lower down
Cost 6k & can’t find anything near it price wise, cars have gone up no end

I am eye balling a Honda CG 125… or some newer honda 125… atm.
Was speaking to a lad at work. some of these little lawn mower engines can hit 200mpg… with a top speed of 60mph.

Me like that.
