My 1998 C230 Kompressor Merc

Had it 8 years now, just coming up to 90k miles - still drives like a dream and is a bit of a sleeper too.

Nice motor. One of the proper Mercs. Low mileage too.
Spot on that.

I know it’s show us your car , but bare with me , mrs brought herself this today , and I’ve got her fiesta st, but seeing as when she had my focus she did nothing but complain it was too big to park at hospital , and surprisingly the puma is bigger, I’m convinced this will be my car come next Saturday , I’m not sure what’s worse , a bone jarring fiesta st or a baby blue puma st !!! Though my girl has said don’t worry dad I’ll have the puma , you have my fiesta vignale ( I do like it )

Picked up today , not a mark on it
But
1 missing engine cover ( was there when we looked round it before we bought it )
2. Washers are working but screen wash is running down bonnet ,
3 after taking everything out boot to try & discover where rattle was comming from we discover water in boot , looks to be comming from wheel arch
Mrs said it was a stop gap to get us out of a hole , think she’s right

Looks tidy though.
Good few years back I serviced a friend of mines Focus. That suffered from water ingress in the boot. Sure it was found to be getting in past the rear lights in the end.
Washers should be an easy fix.

Yes it’s a well known fault with focuses ( water in boot ) , strangely last one didn’t do it , not bad but as under warranty they can look at it

Traded my four year old MG ZS EV excite model for a new Gen ll MG ZS EV facelift Trophy 51kWh model last week.
First snowfoam wash today.
It’s got V2L bi-directional power feature which is capable of running a TV, kettle, toaster etc.
I plan on using the bi-directional feature to run the small heater & grow lights in my greenhouse then charge the car up on cheap overnight tariff of 9p/kWh.

What’s it like compared to the older version ?
I hope they redesign the 5 again in the next 2 years as I don’t like the centre console in the new gen compared to mine
Only done 8500 miles since I’ve had it :scream:

It seems a bit more refined than the Gen l & the software & infotainment system is a lot different too.
My missus missed the electric heated seats & the 360° angle / parking cameras on our base Excite model so she’s more than happy with this Trophy model.

I read that the MG is going to redesign a few models including the MG ZS EV too, SAIC MG’s owners are bringing in quite a few new models over the next few years including a MG9 & MGS9 models from MG’s sister company IM Motors which has more upmarket prestigious models.
SAIC/MG are also debuting a new £20000 entry level MG 2 BEV & a MG 3 Hybrid model next year & are doing so well that they’ve got 13 car carrier ships on order :open_mouth:

Just put this on the road, CLA 200, 1.3 petrol with MHEV (Mild Hybrid) technology, as Mercedes call it!!
Previous car was same model but 2.0 petrol

Nice car. Are they more expensive than the full fat petrol models?

Difficult question that!! Most of the cars are now either MHEV or PHEV.
I think a purely petrol model may be available but you would have to go up into the AMG tuned category to find one and they usually have a £5 - £10k premium over the standard range.
It is still possible to buy a new purely diesel model but again they are £3 - £4k more, depending on exact model and trim range.

just looked at the merc website at the a class’s all hybrid and all auto’s

I should of said diesel also really. Cheers for answer.

Big engine petrol and manual seems to be a licence for sellers to name their own price which obviously counts out Mercs and recent BMWs.
I was thinking about buying a near new VXR8 in 2007.I thought depreciation would make it an economically silly idea.Big mistake.
It’s getting laughable how many automatic car sellers are trying to advertise paddle shift autos as manuals.
EVs and auto Hybrids are even more economically challenged ownership prospects going by PCP deals on 1 or 2 year old 3.0 litre petrol RRs or Discos which I’ve decided are at least half decent choices if it has to be a auto let alone hybrid.

EV Tariffs are getting better & better! Our electricity smart meter that we’ve had since day one has been playing up lately & British Gas say they can’t read it remotely so they’re installing the next generation smart meter in a couple of weeks time free of charge.
Besides the 7.9p/kWh EV tariff from 00:00 to 05:00 this new smartmeter will enable us to have half price electricity on Sundays between 11:00am-4:00pm called 'Peak save Sunday.
No increase on the daily tariff either. :+1: :sunglasses:

The figures won’t look as good when the government imposes 20% VAT on the electric drawn and the missing road fuel duty + VAT.

Well due to the fact my works yard is dustier than the Sahara desert I’ve brought a 64plt Cmax Titanium as a work hack , as I’m fed up of having to keep cleaning the MG :rage:
Cost me£3895 all paid in full

Good choice and spot on with the price, what do you think about this low mileage VW UP, but nearly ten grand is a tad steep?
