Not the first time I have no idea what you are going on about. The English should join the Scottish nationalists! To get out of what? I’m lost.

It doesn’t take a genius to understand that assuming England and the English decide to go their seperate way,by agreeing with the nationalist cause in Scotland,Northern Ireland and Wales, that the British Isles should return to being seperate sovereign countries, then the unionist cause in Scotland,Ireland and Wales would become irrelevant because it’s reason for being would no longer exist because the union is all about union with England.IE as I said the ‘union’ in question is an English based and instigated one originating, carried out,and often historically maintained,by way of force.Without England wishing to continue with being part of and/or maintaining that union there would/could be no ‘union’.
Well, that’s that problem dealt with. Well done Carryfast.
A very well put point by carryfast
Stop looking back, look forward, vote yes - never get a better chance to determine your destiny!
god for a minute I thought this truknet was all about trucks and drivers, not question time in parliament all the polititions wee in same pot leave em to it, nothing will change just keep on trucking
are truck drivers all that ignorant that they should not discuss politics?
certainly not, but it is a trucking website not a political platform we are all wagon drivers together, I know we can discuss allsorts but this is not a topic for me, keep on trucking, burn some diesel
I work up in Scotland on a regular basis and haven’t found many people that are going to vote yes, the strongest pro independence people seem to be amongst my Glaswegian customers, most of the rest of the country don’t seem to want it

In which case maybe it’s time for the English to say tough because we do.
but it is a trucking website not a political platform
it will be a trucking issue if you finish up going through customs/UK border etc. at Carlisle
(a whole new meaning to illegal immigrants )
well if we need to talk border controls, its deffo going to far, you can drive round Europe without having to stop at borders ie france into spain, france into Italy, Belgium, luxy, holland etc etc , why would Carlisle and Berwick be any different, most of the transport companies are jointly owned by and English/Scottish firms, I bet theres more Scottish drivers living in England than Scotland, the more you go into it you can see independance is going to cause one hell of a mess for everybody and it will cost a fortune for everybody,

If Scotland was to become Independant, and an EU member it would be seamless. Just like it is with other member states. Irrespective of what Scotland does or does not do, most of the UK are lookging forward to a say in wether we stay in the EU as it is ? Interesting times

i think it was mentioned in a previous post that it is not automatic that Scotland would be part of the EU.
it may be that would have to apply for membership and would need toreceive unanimous votes in favour from other members and it could be that Spain, having its own issues with the Basques may block Scotland in order not to set a precedent.
My comments on border controls at Carlisle etc were a bit of fun , in response to a post claiming that this thread shouldn’t be here and we should only discuss truck related issues.

I’m deadly serious Del, i’d like to see manned security at the checkpoints. Complete with rifles and Gaelic interpreters
It could be like scene from “Deerhunter”, only the guards wouldn’t shout “mao!!”, they’d be saying “de ya ken?!!”
I’m thinking of the possibilities…fines for truckers carrying illegal immigrants over the border, lorry road user charge. That could effectivley end the NI> Scotland route for NI to England/Euro travel. The possibilities are endless. Farmed Scottish Salmon could rise in price due to increased transport costs by as much as 3 pence per kilo, who knows where it will end !!
Can anybody smell onions?

My comment was regarding your statement about Scotland, i’ve got absolutely no interest whatsoever about that person.
