I used to do work for a company called Supertrucking. They operated from Ransomes road ( I think) in Northampton. I also had one of M&Bs old Daf 3300s, KRP3Y which we used on Dutch work
If anyone remembers Supertrucking I would be interested in finding out how Mike Callaghan is doing.
Thanks Graham

Great pictures Ash. There’s quite a bit about the american Ford on p3 of this thread. Diesel Dan knows about who ran it.

tonyhogi:
Nice pics Ash , remember Wright’s/Roy bros well - he was a right miserable git while you were out taking pics did you ever take any of Swifty’s ? My dad drove one of their Transcons (TJL 562S) but sadly no pics
Now this is where I give myself a serious kicking up the arse and around the room
As a lad of 15/16 I used to go for rides with some of Swifty’s men from Northampton. I clearly remember going with Graham Corkram, ? Raggatt (I knew his son Pete), and a big old boy whom I cant remember his name. Nice bloke but without sounding rude, he had a bit of a disfigured nose I think, or something wrong with the skin on his face. Real nice bloke though from “up north”.
I also remember an American called DON ROTHAUSEN, but I can’t recall if he worked at Swifts or not. I know that he was on for M&B and drove one of their early MAN 16.232’s painted in Wim Bosman red, but I’m pretty sure Don was on Swifts before he went to M&B. Does anyone remember him on Swifts?
Trouble is I cannot find any photos I took loads with my little Instamatic 126, especially with Corky. I remember us getting stuck out after being delayed at Shepton Mallett and me having to spend the night trying to sleep ontop of a load of bottles in the back of the tautliner! I could not get a wink of sleep and Corky couldn’t either as I kept tossing and turning and rocking the truck. Well you try sleeping ontop of a load of uneven bottle tops!
I reckon Corky’s Transcon was PNH 3R or something like that. Raggatt had a F88 and so did the other bloke (Jack I think?).
So NO Tony, the answer is NO I don’t have any Swifty pics to post, Sorry
Right then all you Northants experts…it is my turn to ask for help.
Anyone remember MONKS INTERNATIONAL TRANSPORT?
Any help locating ex drivers, owners, cleaners, mechanics…will be gratefully received.
I have a few photos but would seriously like to find more! Here are a few to jog the memories.
Not sure who took these first 3.
These next 2 were taken by RAY SCUTTS.
Pictured here in 1971, the old AEC was parked at the customs in Basle Switzerland. Check out the “curvature” on that classic tri-axle tilt. Looks a tadge heavy to me!
Anyone know these drivers?
