Even if the course runs in my county ( it does ) apparently I am not eligible for it because the red light, when I had crossed it, had been on a lot longer than 3/6 seconds
Therefore I will not be offered the chance to go on it
As professional drivers we spend a higher than average time on the road, this means we come across an awful lot of people who aren’t concentrating 100% on the road and have to deal with the errors they make. This probably explains the lack of sympathy from some posters.
There are two possible outcomes from this. 1) you’ll get a letter which will cost you money 2) you won’t get a letter costing you money. Obviously you’d prefer option 1, worrying about it won’t change the outcome.
Take this as a lesson learnt, keep your focus on driving in future. I’d be surprised if anyone on here hasn’t driven whilst distracted, I’ll admit to doing it myself.
As others have said, perhaps additional training might be in order, either advanced driving lessons or, if you’re eligible, the pass plus scheme.
Take this as a lesson learnt, stop worrying (nobody died) and stay focused whilst driving in future.
Cavey.
PS pictures of me in a bikini are available online, long story.
Jeanine- Old67 (John), was not being disrespectful to you. He simply asked if anyone was taking you seriously. He is well respected on here and is well mannered enough to always end his posts with his regards.
Please don’t play the poor woman card. You get treated on here the same as a bloke would. The lady drivers on here are a right laugh.
Anyway, you asked to be insulted further, so here goes.
ROG:
How about taking measures to prevent this sort of thing happening again
Perhaps by investing in an advanced driving course by the IAM or RoSPA
Your local group will be willing to give you a FREE assessment drive if you ask them with no obligation to take up the course
Great idea Rog. Applies to a lot of drivers but most do not want to pay the money and most think they do not need it as I I sure you know.
Should be made compulsory.
Brilliant idea Albion1971, as I didn’t sit an original test and got my licence from a cracker!
Beezle I thought someone as bright as you would realise all driving tests are very basic.
They only teach you to pass a simple test and then you are meant to keep learning but most do not.
Surely you notice how poor driving standards are these days.
I know from experience most drivers who go on to take an advanced test or similar will learn where they are going wrong hence usually improving their driving.
It seems there are plenty drivers on the road got their licence out of a cracker.
Nope had a think about it, can’t see why just being a woman qualifies you to automatically get respect. And it’s an odd choice of forum, there we plenty of motoring forums out there. No reason the OP shouldn’t ask here, but not a usual first choice.
One last thought to the OP
If you cast your mind back to when you last read the Highway Code which no doubt was when you passed your driving test. Somewhere in the Highway Code it states when approaching traffic lights (even if they’re showing green) you should be prepared for those lights to change, and you should be prepared to stop safely.
The fact that pedestrians are in the area should also add to your awareness/readiness to stop.
If you’ve left a (romantic?) mandle/candle burning in your caravan is probably too late as it will either gone out or burned the caravan to the ground by the time you get there
albion:
You might get done, you might not, what is the point of worrying about it before hand?

Done, now just to be careful these are definitely Albion and not Albion1971 as I already have a few of him in a compromising position with a Kangaroo and a Didgeridoo
