Moose:
Some things can be removed, they are fitted for the new whole vehicle type approval regulations and not yet required for test, having said that I wonder how long it will be before they are!
Thanks for the good news, Moose. When the new one eventually arrives that back bar will be coming off then, hopefully those side underruns too.
I wont be signing upto FORS anytime soon.
DAFMAD:
Yeah FORS lol think it means [zb] Off Ridiculous Schemes
Btw, my tip is, donāt get a MAN, if you ignore that do not get the Tipmatic, it is worse than ever and go for the stack option only. You been warned
I agree with you regarding the stack option. I had one in a previous job with underslung exhaust, constant engine warnings because the ā ā ā ā thing was bunged up with baked on quarry dust. Iāve never known a lorry kick up so much dust like MANs do.
My first choice would be FMX with I-Shift. I wouldnāt want the manual version, if I had to have a gearstick Iād choose Daf then MAN.
Scanias are nice but the ānewā P cab is the same as the 06 reg I drove last year.
Seen a new kerax K range comming out of london few weeks back looked really smart, wether itās anygood or not thatās another story? Donāt seem to see any new Hinos arounds anymore all they still going?

Hinos canāt sell any new ones here at the moment as they donāt have a Euro 6 engine. That Renault K seems too heavy for over here.
Has anyone noticed the sudden appearance of loads of brand new ready built 8wheelers?
Iāve seen several Arocs with Abba bodies, and Kelberg seem to have a lot of CFs with their own in house body for sale. Are they all cashing in on the absence of Hino, of whom 90% of their trucks have identical bodies?

Yeah, there are loads of chassis coming through HST, and there not hanging around unlike the tractor units that areā¦
Iām just in the process of ordering a new 8 wheeler insulated tipper, body slot is booked as thatās the biggest ball ache⦠Think Iām going to go for the Daf 440 sleeper construction spec with a manual box, anyone run one tell me the verdict before I sighn on the order form ā ā

Yep my choice wouod be 440 and the manual too, not sure whether the 8 or 16 speed but the 8 speed on my 8w CF is excellent. Not sure I really want a new one now (promoted from the 6 to the as my boss has just had it chipped from 360 to 410 and itās brilliant. Pulls better and better on fuel.
All it needs now is to persuade my boss to have the adblue āsortedā
Just looking through this post and was wondering how the Reno is going as will have been on the road for 6/7 months now, while Iām on what kind of body have you got fitted to it and what does it tare off at?
dew:
About the same spec Iād be looking at too, good choice!
Weāre not bothering to change our old 6 or the 8wheeler now. Rip off prices at the moment and a long wait for a Thompson body. Boss isnāt keen on Euro 6 (the 6w is Euro 3 and the 8w uses so little adblue youād think the gauge was faulty ) and I donāt want all the silly bike sensors and underrun bars to worry about.
We are however buying a new Isuzu puddle jumper. Not a bling mobile but the little 'un can earn just as much as the others.
Has anyone seen the Chinese Sinotruck 8wheeler that is shortly coming out as a mixer chassis first, then as a tipper? Iāve seen a few photos, looks alright, very much like a cross between a Hino and an Isuzu. Harris Commercials (who assembled the flat packed Hinos) are going to build them up and apparently being marketed through Hino dealerships.
Anyone know if the stupidly long waiting list has improved? My boss has enquired about getting me a CF Construction demonstrator, and apparently thereās a waiting list. Is this people genuinely looking for a new motor, or after a cheap hire vehicle?
The Renault is doing fine 9+ mpg genuine 21 ton payload. The radio was replaced under warranty within a few months, since then play developed in the centre bearing which was replaced under warranty along with an adblue sensor. Otherwise a pleasure to operate. This is my third auto truck (Volvo & Daf) there is absolutely nothing wrong with any of them. With regard to the under run bar I enquired about a new body recently and was told that I may well remove the bar after delivery but should the worse happen subsequently it would take some explaining
