For somebody who says that he doesn’t rate Foden’s I’m pretty sure that I spotted a Foden badge on Dan’s truck the other day? Happen I’m getting confused in my old age though!

Pete.

its just a lorry with a ■■■■■■■ engine , ERF had sold all theirs so it’s a 2nd best compromise, and a restoration that works most days as near to perfect as I could in the time .

Well Dan it looks like a good workhorse to me, Regards Larry.

Cheers Larry ,I bet your ■■■■■■■■ peer dosent agree , I think between me n you Bewick drivers couldn’t master the Foden 12 speed !

What you on about Dan’l this Atki had 20 gears ! Cheers Bewick

More like a 10 speed with a 2 speed axle ? and some gears not worth using .

However Dan’l that Atki could and did “walk past” many Fodens, and every gear had a use at the right time, no contest, Atki 1 Foden O, Fact. Cheers Bewick.

I would have loved it… Until the moment I climbed into a Scania, at which point I would have realised that the Atki was a generation behind!

I’d think low axle in overdrive be no use , direct gear in hi axle would give same engine revs and same road speed but with more torque than overdrive would in low axle .

I admire your keen sense of humour Larry but Fodens were like Marmite you either loved them or hated them and I was in the latter category, fortunately, but then again “one man’s meat is another man"s poison” but as we would both agree “you pays your money and takes your choice” eh! Cheers Dennis. Oh! and what were you doing parked up in a layby may I ask !!! :open_mouth:

You’ve got my mouth watering Larry, Anne and I are partial to having the occasional snack of Anchovy’s, Sun Dried Toms and Olives plus some slices of French rolls to soak up the Olive oil and a nice Chardonnay to wash it down eh! Oh! and is your salmon “poached” or legal ? it tastes better “poached” ! Don’t worry I’ll never “grass” you up but I am jealous all the same ! Cheers Dennis.

My heart bleeds for you and poor old Bewick, Larry. I’m just off to make a slice of toast with my remaining slice of bread. I do wish I’d saved a tiny bit of butter to go with it, though.
When is the state pension due to go up again?
Never mind, I’m looking forward to that Full English that young Dan has promised us old pensioners. But I’m not holding my breath for that, either. :unamused:

Now now ROF, didn’t your gaffers ever tell you “There’s no money in transport lad” so Larry and Dennis are probably existing on bread, dripping and water really and YOU are living like a Lord!

Pete.
