Retired Old ■■■■:
My heart bleeds for you and poor old Bewick, Larry. I’m just off to make a slice of toast with my remaining slice of bread. I do wish I’d saved a tiny bit of butter to go with it, though.
When is the state pension due to go up again?
Never mind, I’m looking forward to that Full English that young Dan has promised us old pensioners. But I’m not holding my breath for that, either.
I hope you’ve scraped the green off that bread ROF, it isn’t good for you. Have you got your “coal money” yet? When you do, put an extra jumper on and you can afford a loaf! Two extra jumpers and you could even go to a scrape of marge.
From Bernard, another ROF!

“Crawler” hic! hic! Cheers Dennis.
Well Dennis I was never ever in crawler gear , with this high performer ERF, & I ran it at 40 tonnes before I retired & it could hold its own with anything, The good old days when wagons were a pleasure to drive, Not like the modern day stuff when all the drivers does is steer them, Of course I might be a bit old fashioned but I was on a Horse & Rolly when I started work in 1950 delivering rations for the Co-op in Newcastle the rolly had a pole down the middle & a sheet that just pushed up to the front & was only used If it rained, The good old days of my youth, Regards Larry.
I can put a “word” in for you to the Old man Larry they were always on the look out for a keen Lad ! But you would have to light the fire at 4 am every morning to be ready to have steam up for 5:30 eh! Cheers Dennis.

A good idea for a thread anorak, its going well nil desperandum … two to get back on track more when I get them sorted,

Haha ya sarky git Oily Nil carborundum more like. Your posting of a perfect Pegaso reminds me of another of my favourites, the V. Savall fleet: youtube.com/watch?v=9Ije7eld03E
He keeps his restored lorries in his office, that’s how clean they are!
This show is evidence that Spanish restorers are often perfectionists: encamion.com/torrelavega/201 … niversario
Those Troners in the last photo look fabulous- the original styling makes the latest Paccar incarnation of the same cab (and the Iveco in the same pic) appear, relatively hideous, IMO.
Edit- the pictures of the 3089 restoration seem to have “dropped off” the camiones Clasicos site. Good job I saved a few of them!
This is the sort of thing I look for- the first pic shows that they have made every effort to cut rot out of the cab (although there is not much evidence of corrosion on that pic!), the second shows a nearly-finished as-new interior. The vehicle is a perfect representation of what it would look like when its first owner picked it up from the paint shop.

Some more from Nordic Trophy and a vintage rally in Södertälje last mounth
Danne
I have not seen pictures of the Hanlinder 140 before, so I zoomed in for a closer look- very impressive. Then I noticed the girl sitting on the grass on the left. If ever there was inspiration for a caption competition, the expression on her face…

anorak:
Most preserved vehicles are worthy efforts by their owners, but some are so good, they are almost indistinguishable from new. The quality of those restorations effortlessly takes the observer’s imagination back to the time when the vehicles were new. That is the goal of this thread- to show off those vehicles (Apologies to those who may consider armchair criticism of people’s work a bit crass- ordinarily, I find the “best in show” award stuff somewhat mean myself). These are some of my favourites, in no particular order:

Watch out, you’re going off-topic I know that look, my wife used to have it when she went to lorry shows with me, it’s called bored!

The Roo bar is missing. Jack would not have had an Eminox exhaust either. The step pads above the towing eyes were palastic not ally chequerplate and there should be a small air dam under the bumper.

Now now ROF, didn’t your gaffers ever tell you “There’s no money in transport lad” so Larry and Dennis are probably existing on bread, dripping and water really and YOU are living like a Lord!
Pete.
Hi Windrush, I never said that there was no money in haulage, But I should of said that there was not enough money paid to us for our first class services, And our drivers, ,Regards Larry.

Bewick:
…The shot coupled to the van was when the Atki was new and the shot of unit only was after refurb many years later. Bewick.
The refurbished Atki does indeed look like a new one. What work was required to bring it back from the dead? Did it perform las well as it looked, after the work?

This is a shot of the day we took this Atki off the road after 20 years very reliable service on the fleet, it ended it’s days on a very lucrative intensive shunting operation between Warehouse and Mill which after running costs more-or-less paid my not inconsiderable salary for a few years ! Cheers Bewick.
