Near-perfect restorations

Punchy Dan:
You’d need shares in David’s p 38 to restore one of those things   :stuck_out_tongue:

Never kept them long enough to need restoring Dan’l ! Atki Borderer is more like the motor I would restore ! Far superior to an ERF IMHO. Cheers Dennis.

I also drove this one, Regards Larry.

Nothing wrong with the York SL castellated chassis it was the gearing of the landing legs that precluded anymore joining the Bewick fleet Dan’l Cheers Dennis.

Well Dennis I was never ever in crawler gear    , with this high performer ERF, & I ran it at 40 tonnes before I retired & it could hold its own with anything, The good old days when wagons were a pleasure to drive, Not like the modern day stuff when all the drivers does is steer them, Of course I might be a bit old fashioned but I was on a Horse & Rolly when I started work in 1950 delivering rations for the Co-op in Newcastle the rolly had a pole down the middle & a sheet that just pushed up to the front & was only used If it rained, The good old days of my youth, Regards Larry.

I can put a “word” in for you to the Old man Larry they were always on the look out for a keen Lad ! But you would have to light the fire at 4 am every morning to be ready to have steam up for 5:30 eh! Cheers Dennis.

its just a lorry with a ■■■■■■■ engine , ERF had sold all theirs so it’s a 2nd best compromise, and a restoration that works most days as near to perfect as I could in the time .
