One of your Virginia guys was at Sainsbury’s Basingstoke today Luke…i looked to see if it was you but sadly not :frowning:

It’s a long while since I was down that way. Im very easy to spot as my name is on both doors and twitter/website address on plate in screen. I do like my own name!

Do many of the Virginia lads live out in their trucks full time? Are you the only one?

I think I’m the only one. To be honest I don’t think I’ve ever met another driver anywhere that takes nights out to the extremes I do

You have a fan Luke!

Careful though, he’s always talking about his dangler…!

I have read somewhere in Polish trucks forums, Most of Poles drivers had bad experience with Nolan & some Irish hauliers. Some Poles drivers have no choice - earn good money for them (Euros convert into Zlotys) and had to run as bent - driving without tacho for 12 hours then put new card - heard lots of scary stuffs stories out there!

Some Poles drivers had gave false hopes - offer a job as straight away with good money & guarantee legal work but it is not!

For example, I have heard that story

An Irish firm pay the flight ticket from Poland to Ireland for a Pole driver after the plane landed and give a truck key to Pole driver - straight away. The gaffer order him catch the ferry tonight to England and picks up some loads then running to Holland then return loads from Germany. The gaffer expect him return to Ireland on next day! :open_mouth: Pole driver have no choice because he have no money to buy for return flight ticket back to Poland. He had to patience and did running as bent for a month then he quitted

I know Irish hauliers has bad name reputation but not all! some are good like our happy driver Luke :sunglasses:

What about Caffrey International? they seem big company like Nolan - seen everywhere in Europe

Of course they had a choice ffs, they could just as easily hitched their way back home! Better still, drive the wagon back to Poland and dump the ■■■■■■■ thing, then go home. Simples

Well he seems like a decent guy and its nice to see another young driver…but yes, do be careful if you come to Basingstoke again. I might get really giddy and hit on you…apparently :stuck_out_tongue:

A pal of mine rang nolans a few years back asking if they had any jobs going, they asked him how long he could stay awake for,he said 24hrs told him they weren’t looking for any day men and put the phone down.

Very good!!!

I heard that Nolan bought a new FH16 and sent it out with two of his best men, when it came back it sounded a bit rough, so he drove it up to Volvos, they discovered it had an old F7 motor in it.

And if you believe that ■■■■■■■■, you will most certainly get a job there…

It has been done. A few years ago two Nolans drivers got fed up and decided to go home. One drove home to Poland, the other drove home to Russia!

Caffrey International are nowhere near as big as Nolans. I heard that Caffreys had big financial troubles over the last few years and were selling off part of their fleet.

ok sorry for bringing up an old post but was wondering who are the best southern irish to work for nowdays, yes they gonna ask for blood as all companys, but who has best tackle and reasonable bosses, as im considering changing my £300pw  coach job up for one as i feel i can get more.

Give Tinnelly Transport a ring mate they pay well… or will for a month or so then the owner will buy himself out doing one of those pre-pack things and then run under a slighlty different name.

Dixons are big but APPARENTLY dont pay the best… Your best bet is phoning them direct and ask them the hours, job, wages instead of driver speculation.

6,500 odd prohibitions in 5-years according to this months Trucking. UK O-Licence refused.

Surely one to avoid?

85 quid a day, and don’t you dare put your card in till you get off the boat.

Would that be a frisbie tacho then.i once emailed an Irish firm, while on me hols in the Canaries, within ten minutes the phone went with a job offer,he asked if i did not mind having 45 hour weekly rest periods,as that effects their profits if 60 odd trucks are all parked up,having time off.
He asked if i minded running over time to get a ferry. The cheek of it,that is all before they give the keys to their time machines kiited with microwave alarm clocks,ie drive 5 hours, stop 20 mins, drive 7 hours, stop 10 minutes, running the gauntlet.
The Spanish used to be just as bad,it was common to run without a tacho from Almeria, then put one in near Pamplona, how they explained the missing hours and mileage is a mystery.
The dilema they had, was sat at a pack house for 12 hours, then finish loading at say, mid night, then a UK supermarket screaming for the goods, when you are allready one day late in their eyes,as they assumed you have loaded that morning, and on the way up.
