M/E Spec White Road commander

Nice sideview from a non-M/E-White Road Commander (2) but with a good view on
trailer-tractor-dimensions. The lurking ERF NGC is now definately lurking! The tilt is
one of the many ex-BAFMA’s, see various offices.

Yes! If you put your ear close to the laptop you can just hear the NTC 335 echoing in the shed. Robert

All of the full sleeper cab Models came in LHD you can see on this thread a couple of RHD models but as you will see they only came with the short cab…

Another Picture To Look At By Kind Permission of the Owner…

Strange remark…I count at least (page 2 for an example) 5 RHD sleepers, and wonder why White would adjust LHD to RHD only for a short cab.

Pay attention (as you know) on the position/direction of the wipers please.

■■ Not a strange remark, As I stated in my post all of the RHD models only have the short cab, as you noticed yourself !. The RHD was for the UK and Irish Market only. If you required the full sleeper cab then you had to order it in LHD Simple really, One difference to that is White Trucks exported to Australia there RHD could be got in full sleeper cab mode…

In Colombia,

VOG 832S. 3406 Cat, 9 speed Fuller, rear air suspension by Chassis Developments and unfortunately the original Eaton diff that couldn’t live with 32, let alone 38 tons. Just visible behind the screen is Richard Challoner. This was about the most evocative truck I have ever driven.

Not the infamous RC, you have better eyesight than I do.

No M/E spec but here a White RC2 of Gruwez-Bruges who had a variety of Americans, all ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■

Some specs, though not on M/E-package

The picture-data say Road Commander 2, but to all it was quite clear it deals with the previous ones

Was there two of these based in sennybridge Wales years back…B E Williams I think…

I remember a bloke, a nice little bloke who owned and drove a White RC2 doing mostly Italy for AMG Freight in Essex. His name was Eric Benford, does anybody remember this man and machine. I met him quite by accident when AMG had loaded him for Greece. We met on the quayside in Brindisi, and he asked me if he could follow me from Patras to Pireaus as it was his first time. Well we sailed over had a few beers and got along fine. Got off the Ferry, did Customs and Set off for Pireaus. I said to him we always stop at the Corinth Canal for a few Beers and a Souvlaki, then we get to St.Nikalaus Square to wait for the Customs Runners. To collect the papers before we can get Customs Clearance. So off we went, we hadn’t gone more than 20 or 30 kms when he flashed me, he said are you OK because I can smell burning. No I said, we checked over my unit and trailer nothing, so off we go again. When we arrived at Corinth, we were under bright arc lamps, and he said I can still smell the burning. Well then we noticed, he had been following me right on my tail, I was loaded with 18 tonnes of International Marine Paints, with ten ton of good paying Groupage stacked on the top of it. Of course I had got the usual leaker amongst the paint dripping out. It was amazing the complete front and bits of the sides of the White RC2 were covered in tiny pinhead dots of paint, windows screen, everywhere… Actually the effect was quite fantastic, you could never reproduce it. We cleaned off the Screen and Windows with a Deisel soaked cloth. Had our Beers and Souvlakis and carried on to Piraeus. He never said another word about it. The last time I saw him was about 15 years ago, he was tipping in a Transport Company just up the road from me. He asked them where I lived and he came visiting. So we went for a good old boozy night in Pickering. He was then divorced, no truck of his own, and living on a barge with another lady somewhere in the Greater London Area. Does anybody remember this man and his White RC2. I have often wondered what became of them

That’s a smart looking outfit !

I agree and that was also my opinion to have a reproduction made out of FLEETOWNER-magazine

Unlike this one: Rust in Greece… Robert
