Hey, here advertisement for '74 Dutch RAI about the Marathon. The first model I think but they announce 330HP DIN,which engine could it be.
Never seen before the only I know and have was with the TL12 280HP,but with pulling power for 330HP.
Sold for a short time well by Scania Belgium as a cheap LB111.
Pic of a site of Leyland (BLMC) enthousiasts.
Cheers Eric,

■■■■■■■ NTC335 had about 315-320bhp net to BS141Au, which would equate to about 320-325 DIN. According to the advert halfway down this page: viewtopic.php?f=35&t=59422&start=150
…Leyland were claiming 328bhp net from that engine.

hey Anorak thanks, but I am not so sure that they were sold here, maybe only an advertisement to keep on with the other.
But maybe some has been sold■■?
Cheers Eric,
Interesting question, Tiptop. How many Cu335 Marathons were actually sold? I would have thought that, if there were any at all, Belgium would have had some.
This unit was the only one Ackworth had on there fleet ,it was bought for the euro work at the time then put on general when they packed in.
My dad had it in the 70,s for a while he said it could catch pigoens but you had throw the anchor out to stop it. i think it ended up a yard bomber.

They were good motors which could have been so much better if the investment needed was there
I apologise up front if I am having a memory fade moment - didnt Pickfords Heavy Haulage run some Marathon 6x4 tractors with ■■■■■■■ 335 engines - any pictures to back up my vague memories would be appreciated. Im sure sammyopsite would know!!

Any good?
The Ackworth Marathon looks as though it would have the sleeper added by a coachbuilder as it is a lot different at the bottom compared with the factory job. Eddie.

So a few 6x4s actually went into British fleets. That is the first one I have seen, apart from the “original”, WTJ120L. Oh dear- I remembered that registration number. What a sad old git.
Were any 335s fitted into general haulage chassis, I wonder?

I recall that WTJ 120L was originally a works demonstrator
