Dieselcowboy:
did you want more pics of the F12 or 88? I have one of the 88 if any help, taken at first truck grand prix, Donnington.
Thanks, I’d love to see any EMC pics, I haven’t got many of the '88 as a 4 wheeler. I remember I had an old video called ‘Big Wheels - The Story of the First Multipart Truck Grand Prix’ and there were a couple of glimpses of it in there, wonder if they ever made it into a DVD?
250+ new pics from my collection. They’re mostly from the 90s, out and about spotting and at Truckfest. One thing that struck me from looking back through my albums is how seeing a “big cab” or fleet “flagship” was a real event - a Globetrotter, Topline Scania, or best of all a Magnum - and now practically every truck on the road is like that. It’s great for drivers I guess, but you don’t get the same buzz from seeing those sort of trucks any more as you used to do when I was a kid! I still don’t think there’s a better looking truck than the old F12/F16 Globetrotter either, they really do look fantastic even today.
Sorry about the quality of some of the pics by the way, camera shake on the digital yesterday means that some are blurred!
that is one heck of a collection when im older i hopefully will start making a blog for the children of today to remember that bought back some good memoreis from my childhood & “made me smile cos thats when the job was good and people enjoyed it” (quote from dad btw)
great photos mate, me dad use to drive that wheatagroves MAN, M4 WGT, when kbm international had it!I went to italy many of times in it! it was a flying machine! 520bhp from what i can remember there was only a few made at that time with a 520 in it!

sorry it took so long.
sorry they are not crystal clear, having trouble figuring out what i am doing wrong when scanning, the original hard copies are lovely and clear, but when I scan them they go a bit fuzzy.
Incidentally, I loved this truck as it was. I know it’s personal taste, but in the 70’s and 80’s this was customising by the common driver. You used to see a few French trucks that had a bit of airbrushing, there were some at this Donnington meet, but drivers did what they could afford and what was available. In my opinion, nowadays the trucks mostly all look the same,I don’t think that slapping a light bar on the top and grill makes them personal anymore, they all look alike. Nowadays I like to see a bit of personal ‘customisation’ and a nice paint job. Just my opinion you understand.
Mr. Kevchalluk, that Sisu in your post from 13th Jan, 11th and 12th (if I counted that right), any idea when (roughly) and where the pic was taken? That brick building looks very English to me.
I’m attracted by the Czech flag on the bumper, the numberplate looks CZ to me too and that trailer is almost certainly a BSS. To this day I was not aware of any Sisu in CZ or SK. Would you mind if I took the pic for further investigation? (i.e. it may appear on another forum; I’ll mention it’s yours, sure).

Wow, thanks for posting those pics Dieselcowboy, I didn’t spot them first time around. I remember the rollbar my old man had installed for the race which ran up from behind the seats, other than that all he said he did was fit a new set of tyres and open up the injectors(?). I’m with you on the 80’s customising - every time I went out in the wagon I used to walk round it to see what had changed since the last time I saw her. Some parts don’t sit so well with today’s streamlined cabs and grilles, although marker lights, stacks and chrome don’t seem to have done out of fashion. Incidentally I only found out the other week that the old girl was cut up last summer, after working for 23 years and standing outdoors another 7 she was too far gone by the time she made it into covered storage. I was gutted, I always wanted to restore her to how she was in the early 90’s, ah well we’ve still got the memories though eh?
had the truck in my workshop for a bit it was falling to pieces the engine and box where solid.think only thing any good was bumper and fuel tank and that was used as pattern for new one.sad to see it like that used to run with him a bit out of kronospan it went well for what it was.
Hi kevchalluk, you have just made my day!!! the Seddon Atkinson 400 of M Brittain was mine brand new in 1979. The trailer was a brand new 40ft york and the photo shows it still in red primer so it must have been the 400s first run out because I went to Northallerton to collect the trailer from York’s factory. We had it painted by Les Allisons dad who worked for Flowers at the time doing their paint jobs at Shipton but i can’t remember his first name ! I drove ERH 559T for two years before leaving Brittains to go coach driving (big mistake) but its great to see a photo of the old girl thank you very much, regards Tony H.
