Top quality pics there kevchalluk, really brings back memories of riding shotgun and going the truckshows with my old man.

The F12 was one of his before ACK had it (pic belongs to oxo3 from the Shropshire Hauliers thread):

I think it was Thorburn International who had it new. My old man based the paint more or less exactly on his '88:

Anybody got any more pics of it?

Thanks Kev, Wonderful pictures of Goole, Howden, Selby lorries. The Hudson Ward picture brings back memories.Seeā€¦ you did have another Hewson Brothers picture - the Giltspur Transconti.
For me that is a treasure , Hewson Brothers only had 2 Transcontis in the Giltspur livery ( and a Ford D series rigid with tilt body in Giltspur livery ) the others were all in their red and white livery.I believe the Giltspur Transconti OVH 88T was driven by a driver living in goole called Arthur, either way, fantastic ! Wheelnut may know more.Grandad Bernard ( wheelnut ) will however know it all.

I donā€™t think Bernard has electric, never mind a telephone  It would be very interesting to get him on here, he could tell some tales as you say, he can still make grown men cry :stuck_out_tongue:

Would it be Arthur Franks who drove the Giltspur liveried Ford.

There were three brothers, Mick Arthur and I think Tony was the other of the Franks, although rather confusingly there was also Tony and I think Arthur Lloyd. I am sure one of these 5 drove for Lloyds of Ludlow

Other infamous names were Wes Farrow and Lol Drury who wrote a weekly diary in the Howdenshire Gazette about Madam Volvoā€™s travels

Time for a Facebook hunt for Bernards lad or Micks lad and get them on here :bulb:

SUPER SET OF PHOTOS GREAT TO SEE THEM LOVE THE BARRY READ FLEET
LOOKIN FORWARD TO SEEN MORE

I never actually noticed the links between that pic and EMC before, thanks for pointing that out! The pic of the Globetrotter was taken at Nestle in York by my dad if I remember rightly, so I wonā€™t have any more of it. I have got some of EMCā€™s trucks at Truckfest though Iā€™m sure

Iā€™m pretty sure that Giltspur Transconti pic was taken in Goole Market car park when it used to be used as an overnight truck stop. I spent much of my childhood down there on an evening taking pics or cycling to the Mayphil on light nights in summer!

Thanks for all the positive comments by the way, Iā€™ve got the week off work next week so Iā€™ll get back to my parentsā€™ house and take a load more!

I got hold of my mates lad on Facebook. He works for HB Holt in Hewsons old yard and he has sent me his dads mobile number, so I will try to get some info about drivers & Hewson Bros from the horses mouth. He may have some pictures of Aosta with a bottle of Frizanti in his hand too :stuck_out_tongue:

Kev, yes that is Goole Market carpark/ lorrypark.

Wheelnut, many thanks for pursuing Bernard, so his son works for HB Holt ?

No not Bernards son, not sure where he is. Not seen him for 30 years. The lad I meant is Mick Franks son, one of the three brothers who worked with Bernard. I will ring him tomorrow when he gets home.

Oh, ok.Good luck ! I have also sent you a private email.

Iā€™ll let him know you were asking after him when I see him next week. Donā€™t think Iā€™ve got any more hudson ward other than the one that iā€™ve posted, but iā€™ll have another good look through the albums to check!
