Kevchalluk's random pics - LOTS of pics...UPDATED MARCH 2013

Wheel Nut:
Hiya Dave. Tom Bell was working for Armet Carrying the last time I saw him, but Bellgate was formed from John Harrison, Ellerpack and Hewson Brothers.

Paul Oxtoby from our parts worked for them all and then started Bellgate in Holme upon Spalding Moor

Actually that is quite misleading. it was very late when I wrote it.

Hewsons were taken over by Bullens. George Allinson bought Ellerpack and then closed it down. John Harrison stopped running transport and Paul worked for all of those companies from school I think.

As far as I remember Paul bought Bellgate outright after Peckfield, Harrison and Bellgate finished.

One of the Hewsons boss men was Peter Everingham who moved south of the river, his son Mark runs the company now, and “Grandad” Bernard Walmsley worked for them until retiring recently. Bernard was great friends with Alan Horner

Hi All Seeing a Pitcure of my dad brought so many Memories back, i use to go on Holiday with him in The Ellerpack Vovlo, and speak to Bernard every now and then, i Blame my dad for putting Transport in my blood and now own Andover Transport Ltd down south…i would love to see any Pics you have of the old man and any stories of the boys from the Ellerpack Days, i cant believe i slept accross the seats for six weeks in the Volvo, Reg was KKY 249W and Grandad Had the sister Truck. would love to here from anyone that new and worked with my DAD.

Hiya Jason, great to hear from you. I met you once or twice in the Rose and Crown with Alan, Chris, Brian & it would have been Linda at that time. I think your dad was godfather to Faye or Jodie B

He was a gentleman and a great mate… :frowning:

Kevin.Have just run through this thread and some good pics. Thanks for taking the time.

Wheel Nut.Here’s G75 EJL and G171 EJL two of John Harrisons that were bought by Matlock Transport when he finished.Such a quality paint job it would have been a shame to have obliterated it,so lettered up and ran like that until sold.Sound motors gave good service. Mike.

probably in Goole - I think that’s one my dad took cos it’s proper old! There was a massive Renault cars compound there once upon a time. Richard Lawson ran it a bit later on

First batch of new pics. This is pretty much one album’s worth from the 90s. I have a fair few more albums to go. Apologies for the dodgy quality of some pics, I’m taking photos with a digital camera and can’t be arsed taking each pic out of the album so colour isn’t great one some. If anyone has any specific requests for bigger/better/clearer shots of certain trucks, contact me by PM and I’ll do my best.

More to come later/over the weekend…

great pics mate. My dad (among another 1 or 2 people) used to drive the Continental Cargo Carriers 113 tag axle.
And if you ever stop at the tea van on the A1 at Elkesley northbound, and see Martin (if he is still there), he used to drive the H. Frost Magnum.

He drove this very truck? Brilliant!

I’m hoping that more people will spot trucks they drove, or people they know did. I have loads of photos taken around Goole/Howden/York/Thorp Arch/Ferrybridge in the 90s, plus Truckfests. It’s gonna take me an age to copy them and upload them, but I hope people enjoy them!

Great pics Kev keep em coming lol

Here you go Nick, this van dijk Scania you mean?

My mate Dave Brown (who used to drive for Perrys where i worked) used to drive the PTI Portbridge FH12 from new, it had done a lot of work by the time he left! The bloke who owned the motor was a big fella from Doncaster way John was his first name, we called him Chuffin John as he was allways swearing (and he looked like Terry Sullivan off Brookside)
MJS with the purple F12 are still going, MJSExpress is what theyre called now.
I remember seeing Wheatgrove motors about, i know i never overtook one, they really used to motor on.
I drove for Morrison Freight (from Ipswich)for a while doing uk-Germany, i got offered the 500 Super Space Cab when the original driver of it left, unfortunatly for me at the time, i had never driven a left â– â– â– â– â– â– , i told them, and they eventually found a driver that had (driven a left â– â– â– â– â– â– ).
Really enjoying these pics mate, keep 'em coming!!

Used to the love the PTI Portbridge trucks. Got a few more of them to come from Truckfest…
