i flick a switch and do 100mph, always gets me back in time for a second run and the bonus that i don’t need a break, I love my boss…
40MPH. You’ll take a life in a split second, protect yourself and others. I’ve seen it go wrong.
Suedehead:
Usually potter along at 45 ish.
If (ime in a hurry speed up you frecer) is right up my harris ,i tend to back it off to 40.
Why do drivers think that if they sit close, the driver in front will speed up?
^^^^^^ this
Left hand down!:

In an industry where most laws and regulations are geared up against you, and where the rates of pay are penny pinched to where you are paid a minimal rate as the job is cut to ribbons, It amazes me that you still get these superstars playing into their employer’s hands by going like [zb] to meet a tight as arse holes schedule, when they could use maybe the one rule that works in our favour, that says BY LAW that you should not be doing this as the speed limit is 40MPH.
I was accused on another thread of hanging the job out as I agree with this law, and because I was paid by the hour
I would ask you guys if it is raised to 50+ are you that naive to think that your bosses will say “Oh well at least they will get around the job easier now” do you not think that it will be seen rather as a good reason to increase your workload (for no extra ) surely drivers cannot be all that thick
So to answer the question 40, while pulling in lay bys to let the superstars through (unless they get agressive ) …and still completing my work load by using my experience. Hare and tortoise situationYou are of course entitled your tuppenceworth Roy, but quoting THE LAW in big shouty capital letters just makes you come across as a finger-waving do-gooder who, of course, will also sticky rigidly to all the speed limits in his car as well, right?
Personally, the only time I rush about on the job is for my own needs, like trying to get done and get home before the rush hour traffic, but I’ll still go flat out on the singles where possible simply because driving at 40 bores me to tears and I’d rather get where I’m going and then get my head down for 30 mins. If that makes me a “superstar” then I’m good with that if that’s what you like to think! I don’t get any more workload than the drivers that stick to 40 either
Finger waving do gooder? How you do NOT know me!
I was merely pointing out that it is not a free choice situation without consequences (as some appear to have convinced themselves by their comments) but in fact the law.
As for driving my car, I (unlike a lot of todays truck drivers ) , understand and accept, that both vehicles react differently, therefore should be driven in different ways. The ones that are too thick to have grasped this, and drive their trucks like cars are the “superstars” that I refer to.
Thank you Maomaster ,the answer is is both it will do your head in behind a vehicle doing 40because then you are only doing 30plus but you still stick
Thank you Maomaster ,the answer is is both it will do your head in behind a vehicle doing 40because then you are only doing 30plus but you still stick and as some one stated only a moron would pass a gatso speeding fair comment I am that moron but it was a 50mph limit I did not realise the camera could separate a car from a truck I do now nine years passed from that one lesson learnt
Where I used to work there was one driver who was on nine points yet was still amongst the worst for speeding, according to the company’s Masternaut thing which tracked that.
That’s the kind of hero there is out there driving trucks.
He was also one of those who thought he’d got one over on the company by getting back a couple of hours earlier than scheduled yet would then moan like a little girl when he found out he was on a double drive on Friday through having done less hours than almost anybody else.
Re the ones who think it makes them all macho by sitting on the white line and 2ft off the bumper of the truck in front, a dangerous game that. They’ve only got to pick the wrong one and they’ll be picking bits of windscreen and dashboard out of their faces for a while, at best.
40-45 on majority of S.C’s some times faster at night. On the A9…45-50 or at night on the A9 flat out, only slowing for the speed cameras or if any cars come up behind me, get them past then crack on with it. Sitting at 40 from Perth to Inverness would no doubt result in nodding off at the wheel for me

Wanna bet ?
80 if I’m not in a rush.
Usually at the speed limit or less, sometimes faster but not often.
i do 50…
but then as its a 7.5 tonner that’s legal.
I’ll keep it round 40 if I’m loaded but when empty I’ll drive at the speed limit where I feel it’s safe to do so. I’m not paid by the hour so no point in dithering all the time.
NICECARPFORTEA:
Tesco like your safety I do 35miles hour.If job give me Swan fillets I go 56 miles.Nice very.
Just quoting some chap who was washing cars in Sainsbury’s earlier.
Wots all this “its my licence” malarky, it aint your licence, its the department of transports licence n all you have done is paid to borrow it.
Route I’m doing this week limit on the single carriageway is 60-65 mph so that’s what I’ll be doing

Think of the Children, you rabbit murderer!!!
Between 50 and 56 generally, but I’m quite happy to sit behind someone who’s doing 40, what does ■■■■ me off is people doing 45, WHY, you’ll still get a ticket at 45 so why just do 45, if your going to break the law do it properly!
No set speed, whatever conditions and traffic allow, much depends on how far i can see or the likelihood of a speed gun being aimed from a sneaky snipers position.
Not in the least bothered what anyone else does, if i’m stuck at speeds varying between 20 and 37 mph behind a meandering snake so be it, if i can cruise comfortably at a normal speed again so be it.

Not necessarily. Speeding offences are worked out on percentages. 45 would be 12.5% over the limit where as 50 would be 25% over the limit. When you start working it out that way there’s huge differences between the two.
