Like the pandemic, war in Europe, and a huge increase in illegal migration since the odd lot were in power.

Why is there not a processing centre in France for would-be migrants that should have compulsory attendance ?
Why don’t the French authorities, with British assistance if necessary, pursue the people traffickers and process them through the legal system ?
I did see a solution proposed which would have involved Special forces but I suppose there are moral arguments against that.

Special forces? The “John Wayne” or “Terminator” solution?
Sounds too like the “final solution” to my ears.
As is well known people smugglers have organisers both sides of The Channel. Some have been prosecuted UK, some in France. But they often instill fear in the migrants themselves. They are indeed nasty individuals. rfi.fr/en/france/20220923-f … -crossings
Was that widely reported in the UK?
A processing centre in France?
Stop the migrants upstream so they never need to cross the water?
So that anyone thinking of crossing could see whether or not they would be successful?
Take their details when they apply, including biometrics, so if they later come here illegally they could be instantly identified and deported?
Stop the trade of people smugglers overnight?
Hmmmm.
““I would, of course, talk to President Macron about those who are crossing the Channel and the focus for my discussion would be on how we work upstream to stop the people smugglers,” Sir Keir said.” news.sky.com/story/keir-starmer … l-12740822

How about what? That’s got [zb] all to do with the illegals who just come here for free accommodation, healthcare and money.
The Gov wants more immigrants here. They are extending the criteria to let more in. They want more economic migrants.
Yet, they are warehousing, at tax-payers expense, “fit young men” for months or years. It is illegal for asylum seekers to work under UK law.
Either allow them to stay and let them work to earn and pay tax, or deport them. We were processing them quickly years ago, we aren`t now.
Franglais, i have an uneasy feeling these illegals are being allowed, nay encouraged via the Border Farce and RNLI Illegal Immigrant Ferry Services ltd then accommodated fed and watered in comfort, for a rather different and more sinister purpose if required, what exactly would they not be prepared to do for full citizenship and continuation of preferred status and how low is too low for the bought petty tyrants currently residing both sides of the House.
As with the covid farce and the Bill’s death shots, i hoped to be completely wrong then and desire the same now, time will tell.
Once again, the question is asked and no one provides any answers, what exactly is there to be gained from what is going on, who benefits financially or gains power and wealth from this.

As a general comment I dont think its all part of an over-reaching scheme. “Stuff” happens!
But I have no doubt that situations are exploited for gain, be it financial or for political power.
Some migrants are being housed in old hotels, tis true. But why? The majority are housed in ex-military camps etc. It is only because the gov are a total shambles and they arent being processed that so many are needing to be housed.
As it happens security companies, landlords, are making money from all of this.
Got an old hotel that needs renovating? Dont spend cash on it, get revenue by letting it to the gov. Full occupancy, and the gov wont default. But I dont think that Rachman et al are sending migrants over here. Politicos are doing your "squirrel pointing" thing: look at the boat migrants, not your pay, nor inflation, nor the many more migrants we want to come in. Look at how we have a big shiny plan to sent (200 of) them to Rwanda. Dont look at the Dublin agreement, we cancelled to allow returning them to France.

You mean a laughable agreement.Which is all about under populated France playing its virtue signalling pro immigration card, so long as it can send the results of it to this small over populated Island.
No British government is bound by the actions of a previous one.If it was what’s the point of general elections every 5 years.
African and Asian ‘asylum’ seekers would obviously be better served by settlement in their own respective continents and cultures.
Not bringing them to cold Northern latitudes adding to our energy demand.
Another leftie knobhead…Mr Lineker, excellent footballer, ■■■■ poor political commentator critic.
Why do they always go to the predictable leftie default of comparing anything or anybody they don’t agree with,.with Nazis or ■■■■ ism.
It’s trivialising the Holocaust ,.and is downright disrespectful.
In fact somebody on here has already mentioned ‘The Final Solution’.

Yep. Dramatic?
An over the top response to an over the top suggestion.
The idea that “special forces” be deployed against rubber boats? Sound reasonable and proportionate to you?
So, here it is in some context

I dont use the "predictable leftie response"* to everything I dont like. I did use an extreme term against an extreme idea.
*Do you understand irony and hypocrisy?
"Leftie knobhead!
I ain’t a military expert by any stretch.
I do know an ex SBS lad,.and I have read a few books about British SF.
It ain’t all storming buildings with stun grenades and fire fights in Afghan, they do a lot of Intel work done bordering on being a bit ‘Flemingesque’.
Just saying.
And thanks for the vocabulary lesson…I’ll look em up.

Well yep, the Middle East, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, N Korea, Ukraine war, have all been sorted now, so I guess those lads are sitting around now drinking tea, so rubber boats are the most pressing security problem.
Wouldn`t a portakabin and a few computer terminals in Calais be better?

I acknowledge the sarcasm, but to use that new word I’ve just looked up (ironically ) you are spot on correct.
Considering the amount of potential terrorists, and positively ID.d fighters, among all these young fighting age males (I wish I could find that vid where actual illegals were positively ID d as ex ISIS ex Taliban) I reckon they will have their work cut out.
So something we agree on…kind of,.and again .‘ironically’.

Forget the dramatics.
Why not an office in Calais?
Good.
I hope he gets summat worthwhile done. Taking up the French offer (assuming that still stands) is long overdue.
Is he also trying to replace the Dublin agreement?
Oh! Sorry, that is Brexit related.
But since you “got what you wanted” you`ll not want us to have an agreement to return migrants back to the EU as we had previously.
Good.

You mean the ‘agreement’ under which France conveniently and specifically chose and used Calais as a temporary transit camp, to house the immigrants, that the EU had invited in, backed by the ECHR, for obvious reasons.
As opposed to let’s say building some new towns in the Alpes Maritime between Nice and Menton for them all together with Brit style ‘asylum’ benefits to pay for it.
I don’t remember any examples of summary and immediate return, of the predictable resulting Channel hopping ‘asylum’ seekers, back to France, then or now.

I never thought it was you making that suggestion, but that youd seen it somewhere. Unbelievable? Dont have to look far: trucknetuk.com/phpBB/viewto … s#p2698247
“but If that’s the case the Home Office should order border force or navy come to that to sink those inflatable boats as soon as they hit British waters to stop illegal immigrants crossing to our shores, a few deaths mid channel may deter them”
Good.

Ahh it’s the full half hour one then.
There we go,. Get yer Dobbers out lads, it’s another game of '‘Franglais Post Bingo’… …Brexit mentioned.
And how tf do I know if he’s trying to replace the Dublin agreement??
I don’t know,.I just came on here and stated that I’d overheard it on the radio…I didn’t expect The Spanish Inquisition.
