Drunk Latvian kills 2 near Bremen

newmercman:
Orys, let me break my statement down for you, then you may see what I mean

Listen before you speak, or read before you write, this way you can make a judgement on the person you’re dealing with, if they’re an idiot, then you’ll be wasting your time, anything you say will be ignored :bulb:

That’s why there are some people that I don’t waste my time to speak with anymore. You are not an idiot in my opinion, so I still believe that our discussion will be beneficial for both of us.

In respect of the internet, if someone is posting purely for a reaction from you (a troll) then if you write in response, without reading what is not written, but what you can read from a comment if you read it proplerly, well then you’re just giving them what they want, which is to get you all fired up and you fall for it everytime :open_mouth:

You say then that you are all just bunch of trolls that actually WANT me to write more and more?

See, on a serious note, you have to remember, I am not a native speaker. Therefore I am not always able to catch everything that is written between the lines, and propably this also the reason as well for why sometimes you are not able to grasp what I am trying to say. It’s like in this thread: i noticed something, and I got a feeling that I was not understanded correctly by some of the participants, therefore discussion was derailed and now I have to defend myself from accusations of saying something that I never said (or never intend to say, in case that some of my posts could be indeed understood that way).

As for answering: sometimes I am not sure of yours (my adversaries) intentions, so I am writing just in case that they are serious. I am not sure for example, if you are for some reason just unable to get some simple things, or you just trolling me, but I think there is no harm (other than usage of my time, but I am writing my dissertation ATM and I am doing anything to procrastinate anyway) if I try politely to explain to me my position. Saying that, I would not waste my time for someone else, it’s just I think you are intelligent and I value your posts even if we don’t agree on something.

So I think I get your point here, but I just choosed slightly different approach: I examine one’s post at the angle if I can answer politely using some arguments, then I am doing it. If there is nothing to answer, I stay quiet (or say something like a joke to relax the atmosphere of our discussion a bit).

Raymundo: Do it. If someone is boring to me, I am just not reading him. It helps a lot! There are 1000s of posts on trucknet, you for sure find something more interesting to you

I have tried but to be honest you might as well bash your head against a brick wall…

The feeling is mutual, Luke  But I still like to read your posts on other subjects

And that’s you missing the point again.
We are all trying to tell you. We don’t want YOU to lecture/inform/change our bloody minds about anything.

Last time I checked, reading me was not mandatory

Yes but originally I was trying to be helpful and give you advice so you didn’t keep making a fool of yourself. Advice I learned the hard way because I too started annoying everyone on the forum at one point. One day you will learn to listen to others advice sometimes, like I did when Rikki on here told me to pull myself together or my friends when they said the same. You’re a very intelligent chap but alas it blinds you to the obvious.

Well put Switchy

I take your advice and I see my faults. I am working on them, altough maybe results cannot be seen yet. But I am not working towards “avoiding that topic” but towards how to get my point through better. Still work in progress, as this thread proves

how to get my point through better.

But that’s my point, you can’t, that’s what I’m trying to tell you most of the time it’s pointless. In the topics about homosexuality where all the homophobes came out to play did all that time spent posting long winded defences of my position change one homophobic posters opinion? No, they just got more defensive, I got more defensive and nobody came out of it well. I learnt you don’t need to defend yourself/country/beliefs against bigots because half the time they only do it to wind you up and waste your time and the other half they make themselves look stupid without any help from you.

Again orys we do see your point. Honestly we do. But sometimes we disagree with you & that’s when the problems start because you will never concede a point without adding “but” and then flying off at a tangent.
For instance this post. Yes we all see that the naming of the nationality of the driver was not strictly necessary to the story. However it is true that “some” and i stress some ee drivers overdo the drink, and here is the crux of it - when an ee driver overdoes the drink it tends to be a powerful drink usually vodka not beer like a westerner - and the results can be “sometimes” horrible to see. Now will YOU concede that point ? Answer no you won’t you’ll just tell me that everyone gets drunk and it could have been anyone, which it could. But it wasn’t it was a Latvian out of his head on ( most likely ) vodka. And that for me makes the original post credible. Wether you like it or not.

Simply question Orys why do you feel the need to lecture people all the time.

You seem quite articulate and could probably get your point across in far less words but you feel you must go on and on and on to get your point across.

Your not actually doing the people of Central and Eastern Europe any favours by trying to defend them in this way. Your just ■■■■■■■ off more and more people with your trolling.

Please give it a rest for the sanity of all of us.

(and please dont send me a 1000 word pm as I lose the will to life after word 10.)

You know what? This is the second time when your post just stunned me as I realised my mistake: I am simply too optimistic. I just don’t believed that all these people are really just that: bigotic, stubborn idiots. I really believed (with some exceptions that even with my great fate in human kind I could recon as hopeless cases) that I can get with my message to everyone.

You just dragged me down to earth. Thank you for that. (Some can say that you are very anti-British, you should tell that all Britons are wise and open-minded )

But we both agree that it’s pointless for most of the time, there is still the group that can learn something. But I think these people got the message at the beginning.

From now on if I spot some factual mistake, I will focus on just putting it straight in a simple and well documented way, but try to keep in short, and then assume that these who did not get it at the beginnng are just that kind of people as you say.

(I just re-read it, and want to stress that there is no sarcasm in my above post).

See, but this is exactly the kind of point I am trying to make you understand. You base on false assumption that vodka is most likely drink in Eastern Europe, while this is not true or in best way at least strongly outdated. ( I wrote here a long explanations with facts and everything but glen is right, I should keep it short. I can tell you particulars if you are interested).

I live second paragraph, as I used it as example for how my posts generate so much attention, it is also helpful for me, as it proves, again, that I should keep things simple. I just have too much easiness to speak to write and also read very quickly.

As for horrible results: because drinking strong alcohols is still more popular thing in Eastern Europe than in here, people are more familiar with it. Traditional way of drinking vodka do not allow it to be drinken at pub, during communism times it was even illegal to order a vodka in the pub without ordering a meal along it. So paradoxally I see more “horrible to see” results of drinking powerful alcohols here in the UK than in Poland. When I first came to Scotland, I was shocked how Glasgow city centre looks at saturday night, how it’s pavements with puke and everything. I am not saying that such things don’t happen in Poland, but not at this scale, and mostly in some bad parts of society. You won’t find posh middle aged women in nice dresses behaving like that on the street. Believe me, I am coming from the town where you can find pubs open 24/7 and it was nothing unusual for us to finish our pub crawl at 8 am on weekday, but I never seen something like that back there (altough it changes as western lifestyle comes to us).

This is the kind of knowledge I posses and most of you don’t, and I am trying to share that knowledge. But some people just read it and they see:

and they rush to attack me as they were in Poland and they saw puke on the street once, so I must be lying and also I say not nice things about Britain.

Yes I reckon he thinks he is the second coming of the good lord , if only his dad hadn’t been so generous in the first instance we’d all be saved from this tirade of nonsense , hey ho such is life :unamused:
Back on topic , what are your thoughts on the Bowie release Luke ?

   I think it’s brilliant. Perfect comeback, pure Bowie with echos of his older stuff from Low to Hours and Heathen. Love it. How about you? Don’t you dare disagree or I’ll write a 15 page essay on why you’re wrong…

Better start your essay , not too impressed so far . Saying that some of the best of all can take a listening or two before you see the wood from the trees , open minded (for a change ) and I’ll see how it rides for now .
Just watching some stuff from the glory years , he was/is a class act .

Latvians don’t drink vodka anymore eh orys ■■
Aye right course they don’t. You are completely in denial of your own people’s shortcomings.

Get back on yer cloud and watch you don’t trip on yer halo.

Orys does himself few favours. Certainly.

But, when stuff like this is posted:

“stinky people from the east who thinks it fine to [zb] in a bag !!!”

Or this:

“see the same polish faces week in week out ,often parked in the free lorry park ■■■■■■ as ■■■■■ at the weekends”

or this gem:

“Scum that’s my opinion.”

or another favourite:

“when the vast majority of the Eastern Europeans come here with one purpose: To undercut every decent hard workin person and to rip every decent taxpayer off via one form or another.”

It’s not too difficult to understand why he gets defensive. Long winded and boring too, but defensive and understandably so. As to the sanctimonious ■■■■■■■■ being spouted generally on this board about EE carving up the job, what makes truck operating so ■■■■■■■ special? Other businesses, entire industries have ended up in the ground in the past as result of competition, and will in the future. If you can’t make transport pay, ■■■■ off and find something to do that you can make pay. Not difficult to work out really.

Thanks for that. At least someone who can see past my own personal mistakes and look into the actual picture.

Turnip: you proved my point with that small and big letters perfectly, you hear what you want to hear. I never say they don’t, I said that picture of Eastern European who drink vodka for breakfast you base your assumptions on are well outdated, and for many EE countries that I have given examples likeness of being drunk with strong alcohol is not bigger than for Westerners.

I’ve tried to write a response but keep coming up with the same result.

Can’t be bothered.

I find eastern european drivers ok, yes you get smelly unwashed ones but you also dirty smelly unwashed english ones as well. One thing I do notice is on the train or ferry its always some english ganged together seeing who can shout and be obnoxious the loudest, the eastern europeans normally chat or whip out the laptops.
