Drunk Latvian kills 2 near Bremen

Dude, give it a rest. It doesn’t really matter…

I’ve been drunk near bremen as well. Didn’t drive or plan to, hence no vehicular manslaughter charges to be had. I blame it on my grandmother being austrian, so my otherwise pure eastern-european bloodline has been tainted.

Read the first page, didn’t really care. I know there have been estonians driving drunk in germany as well. And since the public enjoys nothing better then adversity, even more so coming from the eastern block, it gets publisized in bigger letters than hans ploughing his tractor into the local church on a quiet friday evening in niedersachsen. c’est la vie, off to fertilize my field of cabbages now.

On the subject of Eastern European and Latvian, Lithuanian and Polish drivers. I was 100% open to the when I started driving but there style towards every one else in the traffic and other human beings are one of the worst I have ever seen. There trucks are even banned from a lot of gas stations up in the north. Owners got tired of cleaning, washing, picking up trash and calling the police every morning when stuffs are stolen. + they use the parking space but not ONCE do they go in to the shop, even to buy just a cup of coffee.

Estonias used to be the same but they have really changed later on. But you even see that on the trucks they have started to run.

Companies like DHL, Schenker and so on have to send the trailers with goods unstrapped because they always came back without the without the straps. If the trailer had new tries they usually where changed to completely worn out when it came back from Poland.
I don’t know but it’s something that has to change in these countries, the attitude and respect towards other humans, the same is even shinning through on “Orys”.

I don’t care if they steel jobs and so on. I don’t see any future in this profession so with the stupid drive time rules and all other regulations we have today. If it wouldn’t be for the idiotic rules I been home today at 8pm and not having to take one more night out 3h from home and get there at 8am. Feels like the regulations are destroying my life, already been on the road since Sunday ■■■■… Have to find a job were I can do 15h+ shifts without any stupid police.

Like more and more threads on here, I start reading them with interest until Orys starts his myopic ranting then I just give up as it’s so predictable and downright boring, and as for the length of his posts, I’m beginning to think hes a Walter Mitty type character as he can’t have any time left to be doing anything meaningful .

[Tongue in cheek mode]

When I first started this thread, I had an inkling that it may cause a stirring in the loins of a certain member who deems himself to be the self appointed spokesman and Defender of Honour of all citizens of Earth hailing from the east of the Oder—Neisse line.

He duly saddled up his trusty white stallion and came galloping across the interwebs, with his trusty sidekicks Cutty, Pastey and Wicky.

However, I am, how you say, smacked in my gobs by his input into this thread.

Simultaneously rising to new heights of nausea inducing diatribe and patronising pontification, whilst at the same time digging himself into a hole large enough to swallow one of the post industrial Polish cities he mentioned earlier.

I can only assume that there is not a lot to do on dark January days in Glasgow and he has too much time on his hands.

It appears to me that all efforts to offer him constructive advice, which basically distill
down to “Get Over Yourself!”, have fallen on deaf ears, so I will only add that he could do worse than follow the example of another of our eastern European posters who sees this thread in an entirely different light and who is not averse to taking the ■■■■ out of himself and his eastern European compatriots.

As the two of them have not seen eye to eye on this forum in the past, I can imagine that this certain poster is sat at home in Tallinn chuckling quietly to himself as our Glasgow correspondent frantically digs himself further into the mire and may possibly only post again on this thread to enquire if he requires a bigger shovel.

During all the handbags on this thread, I am slightly disappointed that my thinly veiled side swipe at the citizens of sunderland appears to have gone unnoticed:

Inselaffe:
“Local man arrested for stealing Spam in Pennywell”.

as the hordes of outraged mackems baying for my blood are conspicuous by their absence.

I wish to point out once again that I make no apology for my original post and that had the perpetrator been a Kraut, Frog, Taff, Jock, Paddy or indeed Sassenach, I would not have hesitated to post his nationality.

I will attempt to keep abreast of this story and will report as and when more details of this appalling piece of [zb]wittery emerge.

My apologies for insinuating something along those lines - being a member of a small and bitter nation whose citizenship thrive on cynicism and xenophobia, I surely would have

Full report HERE

After the accident, the 47 year old fled towards Hamburg with his slightly damaged vehicle. At Oyten, police officers stopped the truck. The drunken man was arrested and is now in custody as there was a risk of him absconding, said a spokesman of the Prosecutor’s Office. It could be expected that the accused, originating from Latvia, would try to escape criminal proceedings in Germany. The 47 year old is under suspicion of manslaughter through gross negligence, creating road traffic hazards and unauthorized removal from an accident scene.

… and still not stressing driver’s nationality in the title, just mentioning it when it’s relevant (when they write that being Latvian he might try to avoid responsibility).

:unamused:

English drivers must have been over the drink drive limit coming off ferries in the 1990s, and when they stopped for the night another skinfull. Were there many crashes and deaths, as i did not hear about it then? I was on the Stena Normandie on New Years eve, the comedian Franky Carson was on top form, some parked up for an hour, some drove off over the limit. Some would drink all weekend, at Claudes at St Genis de Saintonage, the Bp Cabbage Patch, another watering hole and some fisty cuffs between drivers. Then at Victors at Burgos, some more beer and wine at Fred`s at Coslada.
I would get stopped by police over there, their breath smelt like a pub, the motor bike cops seemed to be doing that.
If you have a 24 to 30 hour crossing on a ferry, there is not that much to do, sleep, eat, paddle in the pool the size of a bath tub on the top deck, go whale spotting maybe.

What was he doing then? Looking for a safe place to park :unamused: :unamused:

Why you ask me? Why should I know why this idiot is doing that?

Orys, i have read in a tourist book about Poland that there are the oldest forests there and still roaming free are bears and wolves, does that mean i have to lock the cab doors at night, i would not want to meet a grumpy old bear when i step out for a pee in the night parking in medieval forests.

Not so sure I was directly asking you, but … you are a wealth of righteous outbursts on anything said against our fellow eastern colleagues (further east they go the better the colleague they are of mine) but as you think I was, what was that LATVIAN trying to do, if it wasn’t a runner?

Toby, there are a lot of bores in Poland as well, or is that boars? And one or two in Glasgow

It propably was. Many drivers of various nationalities do that, I can’t see any relevance between what he did and his nationality.

Toby. You should also lock your doors in Sweden maybe if you don’t want an extra cuddle at night.Mike

I used to visit one mountain hotel in Tatras. There was access by road, but it was illegal to drive there, as it was a nature reserve - permit holders only, not even disabled people - they were provided with transport by the nature reserve, only hotel deliveries could go that road.

The mountain hotel had garage where it kept its vehicle, but some people were always driving up to it ignoring “no entry” signs. So what the hotel guys did, they posted a “parking” sign next to the garbage container, illegal drivers were falling for it and parking there, allowing bears to get into the garbage container using their car a a stairs

Much better educational value than a parking ticket and they cannot claim any insurance, as they were there illegally  My friend recorded one of such situation of bears destroying Fiat Cinquecento, he has it somewhere on VHS

There is a lot of casual racism here. In any one single thread you can argue the toss but take the forum as a whole and its is targeted towards Eastern Europeans.

Its often the case that UK drivers complain that they work hard when others on benefits should ‘get a job’. If you’re in Eastern Europe, unemployed but with a truck driving licence and there’s a job going you’ll take it no? You can’t blame a man for wanting to work. How many drivers complain that the hand car washing places, fruit picking, food processing factories etc are populated by Eastern Europeans? Its not just transport that’s been affected.

When Eastern European State run transport companies like Peakes, Somat, Romtrans, Hungarocamion and CSAD were about racism aimed at the drivers of these companies hardly existed at all. On the other hand lets face it some UK drivers made a nuisance of themselves in Eastern Europe but that was seen as ‘having a larf…’

Its a tough call but taking the bigger picture into account I’d rather have an Eastern European working for a living than mass unemployment in their home country and a load of fed up unemployed young men with axes to grind pulling on Doc Martins and shaving their heads before attending organizing marches, speeches and rallies etc after which they fight with the police and burn an immigrants supermarket down…or lobbing bricks through Embassy windows and setting fire to flags.

I know I’ll invite a lot of comments like ‘so what’ etc but I’ll say it again I’d rather have an Eastern European at work than them unemployed and joining the ranks of one of the growing number of far right nationalist movements that preach intolerance towards foreigners to their members and anyone else who’ll listen.

You’ve just branded every out of work white man a ■■■■ ! Good work.

With all due respect turnip that’s not worth responding to.
