Drunk Latvian kills 2 near Bremen

Here we go Orys, this is a bit of an example of diplomacy for you-

orys:
I apologise Luke. Although not a legal requirement it would have of course been polite of me to ask first since we are both regular users of the the forum.

And I’d have said ok no problem, have a nice day.

You never turned my opinion of anything orys. I pm’d you on another topic to apologise because I thought I’d gone over the top.
However you have spectacularly blown any good will I had towards you with your ridiculous rants towards me.
This is all getting off subject & personal now so as they say in dragons den " Ahm oot " .

orys:
That something is publicily available, it means exactly that. As long as I provide source, I can report it as much as I want.

I’d suggest you take a few minutes to research what the law actually is rather than relying on the standard eastern European policy of “If I want to do it then it’s legal”.

If you did not create an image then you need permission from the owner before using it in any way.

Tell you what, let’s all blame this on Eastern European drinking culture and gloss over the state of a lot of British drivers every morning when pulling out of the Bourg pub or Macon Truckstop, or indeed the number of Italian’s we used to see swigging from a bottle of red as they overtook us…

It is after all only an eastern European thing.

Let he without sin cast the first stone and all that

FACT: The driver was Latvian. What on Earth is the problem with stating that fact?
I don’t know Inselaffe, but i’m quite sure that if the driver had been British, French, Spanish or whatever nationality
you care to think of, he’d have still posted the article, including the relevant details.

FFS, Orys, would you do have the same reaction if the headline was “Drugged up Austrian kills 10 in La Rochelle” ? After all Austria has another country between it and Poland, just like Latvia.

The facts are, he was a truck driver, he was Latvian, He was ■■■■■■■ he tried a u-turn on a busy motorway, at no point in the OP do I detect any racism, prejudice, Pole bashing or hate towards anyone east of the former Berlin Wall. However the 2 facts; Latvian & ■■■■■■ together insinuates that there is no surprise, of which there is none on my part.

I used to like your posts on here but nowadays all you do is rant & post all sorts of bollox to defend all things EE. It’s a shame that sort of spirit wasn’t present in the run up to 1st Sept 1939.

RIP to the 2 killed.

Edit:@GB1, ■■■■ beaten to it, or great minds think alike.

You should know, that about 40% of our drivers (in Latvia) is from other countries, like Ukraine, Belarus, most of them are doing mess and you blame our drivers that they are an idiots. Big companies that is not paying well has deficit of truck drivers, so they get drivers with no opinion from Belarus and Ukraine who are driving almost for free…

MADBAZ:

No, because since Austria is considered Wester Europe, it would be very unlikely to see such a topic here

I suggest you take a few minutes to research before lecturing me, as it just happens that I am doing it on everyday basis, as an editor of online magazine located in Britain and operating under British law. So I know the rules better than you (and obviously better than switchlogic, which is a shame, as he is in that business already and he is a law student):

http://www.ipo.gov.uk/types/copy/c-other/c-exception/c-exception-review.htm:
Fair dealing for criticising or review and reporting current events is allowed for any type of copyright work (except a photograph) as long as it is with a sufficient acknowledgment.

As stated, a photograph cannot be reproduced for the purpose of reporting current events. The intention of the law is to prevent newspapers or magazines reproducing photographs for reporting current events which have appeared in competitor’s publications.

I reported on ongoing topics of “If British drivers ever make any mistakes”. I provided source. I could not copy and reuse the picture, as it would be illegal, so I just used link to Luke’s page and, as an addition, for the people who are less familiar with internet, I wrote explicitly where that picture is hanging.

I can’t USE anyones material without permission, I CAN report what they written and link to it as much as I want. And this is what I did, and this is what Inselaffe did in first post of this thread - somehow I can’t see you lecturing HIM and refering to "standard of British policy of “If I want to do it then it’s legal”.

Here is example for you:
bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-20698108
author reports what editor of Guardian wrote, and the picture of the paper accompanies the article.

switchlogic:
Wow Orys you are easily the most arrogant man I’ve ever met online. You could have so easily smoothed this over but still refuse to do so. You are unbelievable really, your attitude to others stinks. This isn’t an insult, but more an observation.

This, Luke, is simply proof that you still don’t understand that you accusing me while there is no case to answer. And this is the only problem why you don’t receive any more apology to what you already received (but answered with terrible abuse). I dont’ need to apologize for anything else as for making you feel bad by reminding you of things you would rather forget, as I did nothing wrong.

Post was removed by moderators on your demand as you falsely accused me of plagiarism, I did not needed to go into fight, as your reaction only further proved my point, so I just asked mods to remove this false accusation from the info they leave after they edited the post, which they did and left it there.

Let’s sum it up:
I reported what was written on your public website (which I am perfectly allowed to do under British law) and linked to the picture you published (which, since I am not doing anything with this picture except from linking to it’s source is also perfectly legal and it’s common thing here on this forum). Your reaction:

  • false accusation of plagiarism (altough I dont’ think you had wrong intentions there, you just don’t understand this thing)
  • verbal abuse.

So who should apologize? Who should try to smoother things down?

If you were more calmed down, you would maybe instead of just sent abuse to me actually read the PM I sent you that day and you see that I apologized already back there:

me in PM to switchlogic Sent: Sun Sep 30, 2012 3:01 pm:
HI there,

I am sorry if you feel bad for reminding you about the worse day of your driving career, but I don’t feel I did anything bad: I just linked pictures from your website (do not copied them!) and provided the source …

In other words: altough I did nothing illegal, I understand that you might feel bad about it, and therefore I apologized for that to you, since we are both regular users of the forum and if I hurt your feelings, I am sorry for that. I can’t be sorry for breaking the law, as I did not broke any.

I been reading the post on here from the beginning and I’m not 100% sure but I think this was about a ■■■■■■ truck driver killing 2 innocent people. Yet 1 person has steered the subject away from the original suject to something complete unrelated.

Here is a brief summary of how this thread has evolved in my opinion

  1. OP posts about a tragic accident
  2. Couple of posts about how bad it was.
  3. It only took till post 4 for Orys to start up about how the world and his dog is so anti EE and completely deflect the thread from the original subject to him ranting and trying to justify his rants becuase as everyone knows Orys is never wrong.
  4. for the rest of the thread its Orys “blah blah blah respect my authoritah(think cartman from south park)” “your all wrong and I’m right”

just my opinion like.

orys:
(and obviously better than switchlogic, which is a shame, as he is in that business already and he is a law student):

And if you think me calling what you did bad manners equates to me saying its illegal then I think your English studies have some way to go. And in what business exactly? I’m a lorry driver, I’m in the transport business.

orys:
since we are both regular users of the forum and if I hurt your feelings, I am sorry for that. I can’t be sorry for breaking the law, as I did not broke any.

And as I pointed out it would have been very easy for you to ask first, to which I would probably said yes. I said it was bad manners, I didn’t say it broke the law. But hey oh you’re -

orys:
IM SUPER ORYS, THE MOST INTELLIGENT MAN ON THE FORUM, I DO MANY DEGREES, IM ALWAYS RIGHT, I NEED NO MANNERS, BOW DOWN BEFORE BE STUPID PEASANTS OF BRITAIN, I DO NO WRONG

You need to learn some good manners, because you are severely lacking in this area that’s for sure. And without manners you won’t get that far no matter how intelligent you are, there, have that tip from me.

And while we’re at it stop moaning about me calling you a few silly names by PM and grow up. I shouldn’t have done it but I was angry. If you can’t cope with a few bad names you should see some of the hate I get directed at me on YouTube, you’d have a nervous breakdown in a week if you had to put up with that it seems.

Well, I can cope with that. I just think it’s silly that person who cannot control himself to such extend wants to lecture me on manners, especially while having double standards as well (you never asked me when you used my misfortune of being off road on some other occasion).

You need to learn some good manners, because you are severely lacking in this area that’s for sure. And without manners you won’t get that far no matter how intelligent you are, there, have that tip from me.

I am glad that you are good in manners at least in theory.

switchlogic:

You didn’t told it to ME, but you reported me to the moderators for stealing your content, in other words for plagiarism.

But hey oh you’re -

No, I am not. But in that particular case, I am right. It happens, you know. Sometimes you are right, sometimes the others are.

Glen is right, the further derailing of this thread is pointless.

I had some discussion, some people (like caledoniandream) see that I might have valid point, Inselaffe told me that it was not his aim to support stupid myths and that nationality was not issue, and I believe him as I have no reason to do so, but I still think that my point I made at the beginning is at least to some degree valid.

Thanks for discussion to Extrucker and others, and if you want to continue further, you are welcome to send me a PM, as long as you stick to your own advice about good manners

you tell him luke

orys:
(you never asked me when you used my misfortune of being off road on some other occasion).

I did that when exactly? Because surprise surprise your life and driving career hold no interest for me at all.

Orys:
You didn’t told it to ME, but you reported me to the moderators for stealing your content, in other words for plagiarism.

You don’t know what I said to the mods. I just asked for it to be removed as I found it upsetting. Reasonable request. Asking someone to remove something on a forum doesn’t mean I called it illegal? And my original point was you should have asked FIRST. That’s manners.

Orys:
But in that particular case, I am right.

Another example of your arrogance and seriously lacking interpersonal skills. You’re gonnahave to sort that out if you want to get anywhere in life. Cue Orys detailing all his massive achievements like editing online magazines…

.

This difference of opinion between Orys and Luke is getting very boring.
Take it to PM from here.

Any more after this post will be deleted.

Deleted whole post then

Orys and Switchlogic, you are both intelligent people ,but opinionated and headstrong. There can be no winners in this dialogue-you both used to post interestingly.Orys, with the best will in the world, you do tend to labour points.I realise you have to make your views known, but sometimes less is more  .Switchlogic, nasty does not become you. So,that’s my 2p for what it’s worth, and just as an aside when I mentioned to a Tatra Mountain guide about Poland being an Eastern European country,I was told in no uncertain terms that it is in Central Europe .

Just saw Simon’s warning–I hope this post is OK
