Drunk Latvian kills 2 near Bremen

I never saw these events. Only what I have commented on.

It seems to me the Eastern European drivers CANT socialize without drinking. Every time I parked in European MSA’S. They would all be piled into the backs of empty trailers, sitting around makeshift tables drinking from various bottles. ALL of them. PITA when you’re trying to kip too!

A
From what I remember of some of the old Cafe’s and Truckstops I went to when I started work as a Driver, British truck drivers aren’t known for being teetotal and some of the best nights I remember working in motorsport involved the consumption of beer and wine.

Drivers drinking is in a lot of countries, or rather was in countries a accepted habbit.
The beer vending machines in Austria and Germany in the drivers waiting rooms.
The German started in the morning with a little bottle “Underberg” 50% alcohol.
The wine with your lunch in a French Routier.
McDonalds in Italy sell “Birra” in every place.
Cafe Corretto in Italy after lunch.
Slivovitz in former Yougoslavia
Or Palinka in Hongaria most times served in the middle of the day.
Got more than once offred in Denmark at Breakfast at shot of Akvavit.
If i wanted, i could have been most times over the limit after lunch.

Of course the Brits are not really drinkers, however I wonder how sober they are on a monday morning?
I spend many a weekend in Carisio, watching the Brits drinking the whole day lemonade and water, in the evening there was than some boxing to watch, just for fun, or maybe as sport I guess :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:
The Murfitts company brought some boxers and cage fighters to world of sport i guess.

I understand Ory’s annoyance, it’s the same annoyance we all have as special get reported that a truck created an accident or a traffic jam.
Possible 98% of all the hold ups are because of cars, but get never mentioned.
Why was the need to mentioning his nationality? To create an atmospheer among us, and i mean the mentioning of this in the press, i guess Inselsaffe would have reported it anyway, as it is a terrible easy to avoid accident.

And by the way, if you want to see Brittish people being drunk and turning on the Dutch motorway, if you ever come accros me, i have two fines of British drivers doing this, in my office.
One of them had offred a bit to much to the Holy Heineken, the other one was sober.
They where just lucky that nobody run under the trailer and got killed.

It doesn’t make all British driver useless alcoholic ■■■■■, it proofs only that you can find idiots everywhere.

caledoniandream:

Good point. He was a truck driver, and this is TruckNet, not LatviaNet  Would “Drink trucker kills 2 near Bremen” would not be sufficient?

Oh Orys will you never learn? You drive half the anti-Eastern European sentiment on this forum with your constant rants. I reckon if you just left well alone they’d be a lot less of it. After all I’m very mild mannered and you still managed to ■■■■ me off big time. Diplomacy really isn’t your thing old bean. Have a little rest. I remember a time not so long ago when you were a very popular member on here…

I used to stick up for him at one time. Then he tipped the apple cart. I on the other hand, have never been popular.

I would not have to stand up and put all these stupid prejudices and myths straight if they weren’t here at the first place. Believe or not, but this is not the only forum I am member of, and only here common knowledge on EE is so poor, yet attitude against it is so bad.

Off course that if I did not reacted, there will be much less anti-EE rants - every ■■■■■■■■ written on that subject would be just acclaimed with applause.

As for your manners, I just refrain from commenting on that subject and let’s leave past when it is.

As for “my popularity” - another fascinating things is that I still get a lot of voices of support when I stand for my case, but people are afraid to express them publicly and they send them via PM. It’s just “not cool” to be on my side in that forum. Rarely someone is brave enough to protest against some prejudicies on the open forum. That also means something.

+1
Orys has annoyed me so many times with his myopic one sided arguments that If I had never met a pole I would dislike them. Fortunately I’ve met plenty I like its just him.

I used to have some sympathy for your arguments. Not any more, the amount of times you have insulted us all is unbelievable. Your bordering on racist yourself.

Oh, so when I insulted you and how? You propably can easily show me, as so far, unlike in case of many of my adversaries, not a single post of mine was edited or deleted for that reason…

But I sometimes don’t speak about Britain and Britons only in superlatives - sometimes I dare to say my opinion or share my observations.
If speaking the truth is insulting, then, I am sorry.

And so what if they were? Its just a truck drivers forum. And besides you are turning a surprisingly large number of people who previously couldn’t care less anti eastern European. Your rants defeat the object. If you didn’t comment each post may get a handful of people saying ‘yeah bloody Eastern Europeans’ then die. But no, you get involved and they run to several pages and you know what? You’ve not changed anyones opinion, just turned a handful of anti EE posts into several pages…

orys:
As for your manners

Indeed, and I won’t mention what bad manners it is using stuff from third party websites without permission to further your own pointless arguments. Oops, I just did.

orys:

Yes, as you often remind us. Maybe you should set up a fan club ‘Imaginary Friends of Orys’

turnip:
Your bordering on racist yourself.

Yep, don’t think you’re far wrong there. He seems to have a lot more hate within him than most of the supposed ‘anti-European members’

orys:
in case of many of my adversaries,

Adversaries?! Your posting on a forum, not a super hero saving the reputation of Eastern Europeans everywhere

When I first started driving I didn’t take much notice of the anti ee brigade,
I just figured some of these old boys just carry to much hate and loved a moan but after 5 years int driving rightly or wrongly I feel exactly the same

No, I put them straight, by that lowering the nimber of them.

I turned Turnips opinion! And opinion of many more others, who don’t dare to tell it openly, because THEY changed opinion in less popular way

Indeed, and I won’t mention what bad manners it is using stuff from third party websites without permission to further your own pointless arguments. Oops, I just did.

Yes, reporting publicly available materials and linking to publicly available picture with providing it’s source is a terrible crime. So bad, that it’s a good excuse to vulgarly abusing someone via PM. Oops, I did it too

orys:
Yes, as you often remind us. Maybe you should set up a fan club ‘Imaginary Friends of Orys’

That would be fun if I could publish some PM i get, especially some of them saying completely opposite to what certain people say on open forum  But then, you would go mad again

Listen, I doubt we’ll go anywhere with that discussion, so I think we shall leave it where it is. I still respect you for many of things you say at this forum, and even if we don’t agree on that particular matter, I still like to read some of your intelligent remarks in other threads. I hope you feel the same and I propose to suspend hostility here. Ok?

How very constructive.

Just because something is publicly available does not mean you can freely use it as you wish. What you did was very bad manners, since it would have been so very easy of you to ask permission. Via Trucknet, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, I’m hardly hard to find. And I would probably said yes since I previously held you in fairly high regard, but to suddenly open a page with the worst day of my life staring back at me was a shock. I was angry at you and insulted you because you were an unapologetic arse about it. Like I say diplomacy is not your strong point.

orys:

Do what you want I don’t care anymore

I think it get too personal now.
We live in a free country and everybody can have is own opinion, but need to have respect for each others opinion.
But remember always, you will never forget where you came from.
Come myself from a family of 10, 6 of us live around the world (Canada 37 years, USA 42 years, Norway 20 years, France 12 years, Israel 8 years, and Scotland 16 years)
If we are where we live, we are Oh so proud of our home country, but none of us will go back.
But we will tell the World how good Holland is, how good the social system, and how good the Health Service is. But we wont go back.
That is no crime, it’s very natural, Britons do it abroad, Germans do it in South America, Norwegians do it on thr Fiji islands… But none of us go back.
We will defend our comeoff with our lifes if we need to…but none of us go back.
But I find quite often that this Forum is more a copy of the community, and if somebody shout something and it sounds cool everybody shouts it, not always for a good reason or maybe in their heart they don’t even agree with it.
But still it’s in everybody’s right to defend their own opinion, without getting bullied not to do so. That’s democracy.
And What me most disapointed is that members on here pretend that they are open minded, they are not they follow like sheep the rest of the group.

Seems to be very important to be populair on here, I’m not, don’t need to be, doesn’t do anything for me, it was actualy one of the reasons to go in transport.
Amen.

switchlogic:

That something is publicily available, it means exactly that. As long as I provide source, I can report it as much as I want.

Rule 1 of internet: if you want keep something under control, don’t post it on the internet for everyone to see.

What you did was very bad manners, since it would have been so very easy of you to ask permission. Via Trucknet, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, I’m hardly hard to find.

If I wanted to use something private, for example from your facebook acount (that is not available to everyone), I would certainly do just that. But there was no need.

I was angry at you and insulted you because you were an unapologetic arse about it. Like I say diplomacy is not your strong point.

…said someone, who just admitted that insulted me back there, who can’t see anything wrong about it, and just did the same again. :unamused:

Unlike you, I have nothing to apologize for, as I did noting wrong. I reported in my own words, linked to the picture and provided a publicly available source. Do you thik inselaffe asked editor of Focus for permission before he reported their news and linked their video?

Luke, you, by your own decission, become a public person, and you have to live with that. There are benefits, you can sell stickers for example and enjoy admiration of your fans, but there are also downsides: you might be quoted for example.

And, by the way (and there is no sarcasm) if that accident was the worst day of your life, then you are a very happy man.

Do what you want I don’t care anymore

Ok, so have a nice weekend.

As usual, spot on. And as for popularity, I don’t care if I am popular, I am just happy to see that some people learned something new from me about my part of the world. Even if it would be just one person, it’s worth it.

Wow Orys you are easily the most arrogant man I’ve ever met online. You could have so easily smoothed this over but still refuse to do so. You are unbelievable really, your attitude to others stinks. This isn’t an insult, but more an observation.
