Busy Mr Trump

98% of Fentenyl imported into the US, not US produced coms over the Mexican border. 1%vover the Canadian border, 1% through other ports.
(BBC Verify)

Is killing a cat for one turd out of 100 reasonable?

Personally yes I’d say.

So are you now saying that it’s okay to penalise the Mexicans but not the Canadians?

Careful, you may be mistaken for racist here.

Trump wants to raise tariffs against Canada. Before the election he mentioned time and again.
To him it is a silver bullet, a magic simple solution.

He can’t lose face though by saying there is a crap trade deal between US an Ca though, because it is his trade deal from his last time as POTUS.
So fentanyl is the excuse he is using.

It’s OK, IMHO to argue with any nation that does not take reasonable steps to stop illegal activities affecting a neighbour. And possibly raise proportionate sanctions against them.

“Reasonable” is an awkward term, but such is life.

For (Rcf) & others of limited comprehension

“Shalom Hamas” means Hello and Goodbye - You can choose. Release all of the Hostages now, not later, and immediately return all of the dead bodies of the people you murdered, or it is OVER for you. Only sick and twisted people keep bodies, and you are sick and twisted! I am sending Israel everything it needs to finish the job, not a single Hamas member will be safe if you don’t do as I say. I have just met with your former Hostages whose lives you have destroyed. This is your last warning! For the leadership, now is the time to leave Gaza, while you still have a chance. Also, to the People of Gaza: A beautiful Future awaits, but not if you hold Hostages. If you do, you are DEAD! Make a SMART decision. RELEASE THE HOSTAGES NOW, OR THERE WILL BE HELL TO PAY LATER!

DONALD J. TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

So Trump is threatening death to “the people of Gaza”. Not the Hamas criminals.

It looks like Israel is doing just that.

Gazans cannot leave the area, even if they want to. Food water and humanitarian supplies are being restricted again.
UK surgeons trying to enter to save lives are blocked.

So what is the value of the military and financial support given to Israel by the US? I’m not hearing any demands for it to be paid back, with or without interest, nor any insistence upon mineral and natural resource rights allocation from Israel to the US. Nor amI hearing any grovelling exprssions of gratitude to the US. Maybe it’s got something to do with the size of the Jewish vote?

No minerals on the Gaza strip? Never mind build a beach front business.

Respect the local norms which are less tolerant of exposed flesh, gambling and alcohol than the proposed immigrants?
Ah… there is a solution to that too.

Did I dream it, or did he resign a few weeks ago?

Sorry if it has been mentioned in the thread, I have given up on reading it, just speed through to get to the end asap.

Trudeau has resigned as party leader, but not dissolved his Government. He is in post until a new leader elected who will take the party into an election later this year.
From CNN
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced his resignation on Monday, saying he intends to step down from the top job and as the leader of Canada’s ruling Liberal Party once a new party leader is chosen.

“I intend to resign as party leader, as prime minister, after the party selects its new leader,” the 53-year-old leader told reporters at a news conference in Ottawa on Monday.
Canada’s parliament will be suspended until March 24 while a new Liberal Party leader is chosen, he also said.

It all seems like a bad dream that I wish was over too! :grinning:

Works for me :joy: and thanks for restoring my sanity re Trudeau.

It’s got very little to do with the voting booths. Follow the money, or more importantly the people who control the money. 2% of the population but 25% of the 400 wealthiest Americans. The Jewish “homeland” came about for this very reason (albeit that was the UK and not the US who did that) and look where that got us.

Plenty of rare metals villains have stashed away in Essex. We should sell Essex to Trump and use the wongar to prop up the NHS: well-cushti!

I didn’t know whether to put this on the general politics thread or this one?
It ended up here.

Apart from the general relevance, it is as a result of Trump that many companies are changing policy.

For myself I was reminded of the final scenes of “Dr Strangelove”…The powerful see the world about to end, but believe that they could be part of an elite group that will survive.
Or maybe ignore that reference, and enjoy a couple of minutes of Matt Green.

Climate change deniers look away now!

Interesting, it seems to me, the point isn’t the religion that counts but the wealth. https://www.timesofisrael.com/79-of-us-jews-voted-for-harris-according-to-largest-preliminary-exit-poll/ Says that most Jews voted Democrat.

Any POTUS candidate needs funds to get elected, which is why there is always reports about the massive fund raising that goes on.

Worth remembering too that Israel is not a homogenous society. Netanyahu is far from universally liked. Before the Hamas atrocities he was probably on the way to being deposed.
There are many in Israel who oppose his actions in Gaza.

But, as happens, there is more support for him now as the country “rallies in the face of a common enemy”.

Is is a can of worms however you look at it.

Warning to all the bleaters…
This video is putting a positive view on Trump.…yes really.
Not only that but is delivered from none other than Nigel (my hero) Farage…so double whammy eh?

Be prepared to clutch all pearls and to suffer a strong attack of bile…you have been warned.
Billy the kid is on stand by.
:joy:

Enjoy…I can hear the seething already aimed my way.

Somebody said they were enjoying this more than planting their flowers…I’m enjoying it more.:joy:
But for different reasons.

Perversely the MAGA lot keep reminding me of this.

MAGA remind me of all sorts of things, but nope, that link never occurred to me!
:grinning:

At about 11-30 Farage suggests that Parliament is out of step with the general public. He offers no source for this.

YouGov have a new poll out and guess what?
Over the past few days, Trump has become less popular, and Zelensky more popular.
And the biggest difference is amongst those who voted RefUK Ltd in the past.

So Farage is not only wrong his estimation, but indeed he is very biggly wrong especially about his own supporters!
