I aint just blindly sticking up for Trump here, I am a realist, I can see his motives aint selfless.
As I keep saying, he is a lethal hybrid of 2 dark harsh worlds, a shrewd politician and a hard assed businessman…of course he is in it for himself.
But the good bit (and the clever bit) it is also for the good of his country…that is his job.
I wish we had a politician that put HIS country and HIS people first,.even if it was a by product of ruthlesness and selfishness.

Out of a whole cluster ■■■■ of options of terrible potential ways to stop this war, (prioritising on saving lives…not political point scoring) this is the best deal on the table, the only deal on the table.

The war is already costing everyone more in increased prices, and now more money for defence.
Appeasing Putain will not work, his list of broken treaties is impressive.

I’ll bookmark this remark for the end of his presidency. If Putin prevails in this war, China will make a move on Taiwan. But of course that will not be Trump’s fault it will all be down to Biden, as everything else seems to be. It was interesting when Zelensky brought up the fact that America had stood idly by since 2014 when Russia snatched Crimea Trump managed to gloss over his 4 years in charge. But then, he didn’t even know the date of that, stupidly correcting Zelensky saying that it was 2015. I’m all for the US president getting involved but it’s scary when you know that his motives are not in anyone’s best interests other than his. As for Vance he’s just big tech’s placeman, god help us if he ever gets the top job.

If you want to avoid the arrows then stop defending Trump to the extent that you are doing. You say that you are not an apologist for him but then go on to justify his actions. Make your mind up.
