Busy Mr Trump

What evidence do you see to the contrary?

Serious question. We are fed opinions from various sources, we then make our minds up as to which opinion we subscribe to. Nothing wrong with that, it’s normal. Sometimes we focus so much on minutiae that we don’t see the bigger picture. I know that I’m guilty of that, how about you?

Sorry for getting so deep. Damn you breakfast beer :joy:

well the figures have been posted before so i wont waste my time reposting them. However what the moaning minnies fail to understand is that a dollar saved today is a dollar saved tomorrow over a course of a year it is 365 dollars.

There is an old story that i have no idea if its true but you may well of already heard it. a man walks into swan vesta and says he can save them a fortune by halving the cost of the materials needed for the strike on the sides of the match box. To find out they had to give him a job. soon as he got the job he said only put the strike on one side of the box.

seems sencible to me to contract a man that is one of the richest people in the world to look at their spending policies because you can bet he doesnt waste a dime.

do i belive that they were paying benefits to people that were 150 years old yes… do i belive that there is wastage in govenment contracts you bet. do i belive that the fat can be trimed from public funding with out effecting the programs you can bet ya last dollar.

any one that realy thinks there is no wastage i have a bridge to sell them.

You suggested that Musk is incorruptible.
In the absence of evidence to support that, I strongly dispute it.
Why would Musk be different to possibly most of the rest of the human race? What evidence is there to support that?

My default is that most people are not Saints, and so are corruptible. That is from personal observation and reading about the wider world. It needs evidence to change that position.

And what has any of that to do with DOGE’s dodgy claims about the alleged $trillion saved, which the greater US sees as a lie, and is repeated by this Herbert-offa-facebook?

You’re attempting to prove a negative.

It’s akin to me saying “I haven’t been mugged today, therefore muggers don’t exist”.

Proof? Where are you getting this information from?

No.
I am not, and did not, say that Musk was corrupt.

I have no proof of his corruption.

You asserted that he was incorruptible.
Until the day he dies, if and when he has no sailed through with with no black marks, we will not know the truth of that statement.

Since he appears to be a human being (!) rather than a saint I will assume that he has the same failings as the rest of the human race and so is corruptible.

From another perspective, it is surely far wiser to assume that everyone is possibly corruptible rather that assume that they are not?
To put so much faith into anyone is the way to disaster.

the greater us dont see it as a lie they can see the waste like any right minded brit can see the waste in the public services here in the uk.

afew facts you may not know… the trillion dollars is over a year…
musk is only employed for 130 days.
musk has so far managed to make suggestions that has lead to 287.7 million a day in savings this would equate to 105 trillion a year if nothing else changes

Good point.
“the greater US” might be a bad turn of phrase.

Maybe not the majority of US citizens agree that Musk and DOGE are being deceitful.
Just the majority of US fact checking sites.

Source?

Not herbert-offa-facebook-who-isn’t-an-economist is it?

What, like the ONS?

Le Penn & Loon Suk Yeol consigned to history, Please let this happen to these dumb ****s Trump & Farage next.

The ONS?
The ONS with about 5,000 people?
Who publish all of their sources, their methodology, and are open to interrogation by the public under FOI laws?

Ummm no, nothing at all like Musk and DOGE.

How many people do the Flat Earth Society have? Member numbers are no guarantee.

You place a lot of credence on the ONS rightly or wrongly yet you state that to place so much faith into one thing is wrong. Cake and eat it spring to mind.

No.

“Anyone”
We were discussing one person. Musk.

oh yes i forgot musk and doge are a one man band

Typically selective loaded question.
What if anyone ‘feels’ that we just should have walked away without any bs ‘withdrawal agreement’.Therefore your issues with an unelected official over seeing an agreement, with other unelected ( by us ) foreign officials, which we didn’t need, is moot.
Just like the vote for, criminal under US treason law, Hilary Clinton.
The fake Brexit that we got was predictable of the Party which took us in.

?? Ted Heath, 1973, Conservative.

because standards have been abandoned everywhere. We used to have clear standards for vehicle lighting, now it’s a ■■■■■■■■ with manufacturers putting any old thing on a car and calling it a headlight or tail light. Some indicators are so badly designed you can’t see them in bright sunlight. Many modern LED headlights are blinding even if pointed down rather than along as they seem to be on many SUVs.

Er difference there. In the presidential election, one is voting for the president. It’s totally separate from the senate and representatives, and local state elections. The college system was most likely rigged from the start to suit those who wanted to hold power, and over time it’s become ever more divorced from democracy. But neither main party wants to scrap it because it gives them a one in two chance of winning everytime.

With a proportional, or even a straight one person one vote nationwide system, there is a modicum of a small chance that an outsider could get elected as a protest vote, as like Bell was an independent MP standing against the dodgy regulars. So someone like senator Kennedy might have gotten maybe 20% of the votes as a protest against the main two.

With both dems and reps both having slimeballs and many failures to their name, it’s just the sort of arena where an outsider with real panache and presence could steal the crown. Though they’d be largely powerless because the senate and house would just vote against them, thereby reducing the office of president back to just the figurehead, which is what it should be anyway.

Why does ALL the rage need to be poured upon slimy starmeeeeeeeeee and the various other toads and fascists like farage.

How many times have you lot said

why should we bother about our emissions when the chinese make most of it

by the same exact logic, when the world’s most economically powerful country is smashing up the world economy for their own benefit, it makes more difference to us than the reverse ratio of impact of CO2 emissions, that you use to justify inaction on our CO2 emissions.

excuse me while I roll about expiring from oxygen loss due to paroxysms of laughter.
It makes him absolutely most at risk of compromise.
NO, IT REALLY DOES!
Because, to remain richest man, which is like drugtaking for him, not that he has ever taken drugs so isn’t any sort of drug addict of course,
to remain the richest, he needs the active connivance of the power brokers. If the world banks, the major stockholders and brokers, the financiers decide that elon has to go, they can bring him down in less than a week.

Remember Soros? He used his financial muscle to bugger up the bank of england. He’s neither british born or american born, but Hungarian. But he still managed to ruin a lot of people’s day back in 1992. And he did it with just a few billion of deals. But allowing for inflation, that’s almost as much as the cheques that musk is writing nowadays.

The “establishment” then went on to punish Soros because they didn’t like what he was doing, so his wealth took a tumble of around 6 billion which in those days was about half his official wealth.

Soros is VERY good friends with musk.
In fact, soros did a deal that enabled musk to do a deal which eventually led musk to then becoming the richest man on paper. Murky waters. Very murky waters with some blood from the occasional defenestrated investor or manager.

Mussk can be an absolute idiot, but even he isn’t blind to how precarious his tenure of ultimate rich ■■■■■■■ is. So yes, if the investment funds like blackrock etc get too annoyed with chainsaw boy, we might wake up one morning to the awfully sad tragic newss that elon, whilst playing with a real chainsaw, accidentally cut his own head off.

So by anyone, anyone at all calling musk incorruptible, nah, you’re just winding us up. And so here you are. Reasons why he is so corrupted.

Oh for the love of god man!
have you swallowed all that bilge, take a tablet or three.
Facts man.
Facts. Firstly, most of the claimed savings have been proven to be made up.
The savings that are real, are mostly not waste and inefficiency but pay for people doing real jobs like stopping wildfires, teaching special needs children, stopping terrorists and smugglers from flying,
oh and due benefits to veterans and elderly and sick, people who have by work and taxation and even “service” to the nation, have earned their so called benefit.

I doubt when all the dust settles there will be much real inefficiency stopped at all.
And certainly not from the viewpoint and wallets of the ordinary person, who finds themselves having to pay more for services provisioned by one of musk’s private businesses, instead of the public service which has public oversights.

And. The inflated figures by doge, they are the total savings. For instance to spell it out for you. Doge cancels a contract to build a new hospital. The contract say for $720 million. That’s not an ongoing saving of 720 million. It’s a one off cost because once the hospital had been built then it’s operating costs come from … yes insurance and co payments.

So you can’t multiply the already inflated figure from doge by 365 to get a year after year saving.
Especially if the consequence of saving a few pennies now, is to spend a whole load more later in say rebuilding something that wasn’t repaired when it needed a simply repair.

Sacking all those people, tens of thousands in multiple departments. Then what. Why do you think only migrant workers do the worst jobs like in agriculture. It’s because they are so low paid.
So you want these newly unemployed professionals to pick fruit.
How do they pay for their homes, their health insurance on low wages.
Doge is pulling the rug from under the feet of millions of americans. And the consequences will become dire. Crime will rise, ill health will rise. Social cohesion will fail.
America will turn itself into a third world country that no one else wants to invest in, once the long term effects settle in.

Remember motor city. Horrendous crime rate. Murders, many many terrible murders, too bad too bad, to paraphrase trump. Why, because the city had collapsed economically. ANd when that happens, the drug dealers move in.

Trump loudly proclaimed he was going to sort the drug problem out. His policies are adding to demand for drugs. Destitute people lose hope and self respect and do desperate things. Trump is doing to middle class america what hoover did to the african americans. Destabilise their social structures and turn them into drug users.

Maybe trump has decided that for his rich elite to make the most profit, only the working class is required as slaves, as middle management can be done by AI.
