I liked them too. Always with a rich dark gravy.
It might be made from offal, but it isn’t one of the “ultra-processed foods” that are being consumed more today.

I was in a Routiers with another GB driver having dinner. I opted for the andouillette and he told me never to order that, as he had been told it was awful. His steak’n;chips arrived and my dish too.
Instead of turning up his nose he was quite excited: “Chitterlings! I love them”
As it goes I can take or leave them, but with a mustard sauce they’re nice for a change.

Looks like you don’t spend time with today’s teenagers, who are quite Americanized and use this regularly

I doubt todays teenagers would have much time for me, I’m 85 years old, and i try to avoid Americanisms like the plague.

Probably best way, I’m early 60’s but with two teenage kids under 17, they have a language all of their own that makes no sense to anyone ouside school age, even their elder half-brother who is just 22 years old.

I still work with kids in my old age. Half of them sound as if they’ve just come off a stage set for an episode of Friends or its modern equivalent.

‘I then replied to her’ now = ‘So I’m like’

Furrin! And their mums speak the same language, so the rot must have set in at least a generation ago.

Yes, I’d got it that faggots are either a bundle of sticks for kindling, or a tasty meatball that I saw (and ate lots of) mostly in Sweden.

I’ve fixed it so that fag and faggot, as well as their plurals, can be typed without fear of the auto censor putting horrible little blue squares instead of perfectly acceptable words.

We’ll consider all suggestions of reasonable words that might presently be getting caught by the auto censor and look to stop them from getting ‘caught’ in future.

This little issue has been caused by the fact that our new Discouse platform came with its own pre-populated auto censor, which clearly needs modifying and customising (with help from our membership) for our use.

This will be my ongoing project.

That’s nothing, what would you make of kids saying “Skibidi sigma” or as an expression of surprise “Top G! What the sigma?”, not to mention “Gyat”, “'ship” and rizz"
A girl could say: “She shipped me with Top G, he got sigma rizz” an the friend could reply “Gyat”

Are you sure your girls aren’t doing GCSE Tigrinian at school; or Ojibway?

Its da yoof of today

Why when typing DMs does the return key send the message?
Another Americanism, demolishing any semblance of punctuation, forcing the formatting of single paragraphs?

To start a new line/paragraph in DMs try Shift+Return or Shift+Enter.

Apparently it doesn’t work for everyone but it works for me.

In case you’re unaware you can DM yourself to try it

I do not trust DMs/PMs in any forum and won’t use them after an initial contact when I give my email address. I have proof in other forums that they are not private and the conversations can be used against you if you have a s hitty forum owner.

Not sure about this one but on the French forum I use, which has a similar format to this, the PMs are almost indistinguishable from posts and it is very easy to find that things you have said in private suddenly appear as a post.

Spardo, I’m a global moderator on another, larger VBulletin based forum. I, Admins nor the owner cannot access PMs, unless they are reported, then only the particular message that is reported, as it is quoted.

What do you mean by ‘as reported’? And by whom? And if reported and then read, how are they read if they can’t be read?

On another forum I nearly got turfed out because one of the owners read what I had said in a PM and then became comfused into thinking I had said it in a post in the open forum. There was nothing particularly bad about what had been said but the confusion caused put a different light on the situation under discussion. She to this day does not realise what had happened so it is fortunate that I am still there.

Anyway I have never sent one since except to ask in reply to one if we can take it to emails.

On TN, the admin only know what is in a PM if it is reported by the recipient of an offensive PM. Admin have no access to the content of a PM, so they have to take the word of the complainant that the contents were as reported. So they can be ‘read’ as a report.

On Vbulletin, there is a ‘report’ button at the bottom of every post and message. Anyone can report content they find abusive or offensive in any way. In order that Mods can determine what action, if any, is required the reported post or message is quoted. The only way Mods or Admin can see a PM/DM is if the sender or recipient report the message.

TN2 has a report button represented by a flag. Click on that and it gives you various options including reporting inappropriate or offensive posts. But I don’t see any such flag in DMs (PMs). In any case I would just contact Admin directly if I received a really offensive DM.
