A bit before my time on the road.I knew some Earl’s drivers in the late 60s and 70s when I worked for Prestons and A.E. Evans, and a Emmens driver who had a Bedford 4-wheeler when they worked out of Sheffield Haulage and Storage and SPT.

Were Earls the firm with the green AECs still going in the 80s i remember going past a yard at Darnall with a few battered mandators in looked like a scrapyard?
Robert Earl was on Greenland Road Darnall Ramone so they would more than likely be the ones you saw.I can’t remember when they pulled the pin though, maybe late 80s.
Yep thems the ones i`m thinking of,iirc they were up at the top of a hill behind the bus garage i think ive seen some photos on webshots of them
When i worked for Robert Earl there yard was at the bottom of Shepcote lane where G.S.F car spares is when it was a single carriageway and there was only one set of traffic lights and across Greenland road where Cutts paper people are that was Earls garage i drove a s/type bedford on coal haulage it was in Those Black colours
Lonewolf Yorks:
Bit of a long shot, looking for photos of Donkins cattlewagons of York and Malton.
You will probably remember Jack Remmer from Pickering here comes on front there goes on back.
I’m looking for photos of any of Walkers of Wakefield’s wagons. I remember seeing their Bedford TK boxvans with drawbar trailers in the seventies, but can’t remember for certain what colour they were. I seem to think they were yellow with green wheels, bumpers and mudguards, but I might be wrong, I’ve got the memory of a goldfish these days. Any help would be appreciated. I’m also after a copy of Charlie Walker’s book on Yorkshire hauliers, if anybody has a copy they’d be willing to sell…

Also, when Peter Sutcliffe had the Transconti , I had the only other one in Bradford area. (but I didn’t carry a hammer!)
