yes i understand they still send about 6 lorries a week abroad. they used to have 2 do swiss one leaving on a sunday one late tues night, 2 doing east side of france ending up at mulhouse again one leaving sun and one tues night, then another doing paris leaving on a sunday. then a few more one different runs.

re jessicas dad: thats right, my dad spent 8 years at reg jefferies (jefferies of otley) and they used to do lots of runs with devanneys, and cross paths regularly over the water, back in the days when devanneys were running older tackle.
they could often be found parked up at regular stopovers on european soil

your joking … jeffries never stopped longer than to refuel or chuck another card in. i remember one driver getting pulled having just came off the ferry on the wire, another boasting leaving leeds on a monday at 4am with 9 deliveries around pisa and back to leeds on friday evening and at the interview being asked… " can you peddle it "

ha ha, they were the days, none stop working and driving, was just the same when he went on to thorburns. they used to take multi drop trailers over the water, leaving otley on a sunday, and returning with a backload on the friday, washing off and going straight over again on the sunday. not sure if that was a question at the interview, but the uk drivers were just the same, apart from one or 2 who stuck to the book!! some of the drivers now work for r c cooper transport, the owner himself was a jefferies driver, and apparently the worst uk culprit!!

well the owner of rc transport i recogonise from when i used to go clubbing at the gallery in leeds and he is still with the same girl now, i know for a fact he was gagging to get on european for jeffries then got weekended at dover and phoned up crying and begging to come back to leeds.
