Hi sponge the only one i remember when i was there was brocklehurst they were next door opposite the terraced row i remember there was a good cafe down there but cant help with YAK were they red?

they had blue transcontinentals :smiley:

I did some work in leeds in the 1970s for an agency called Bill Antil freelance drivers are they still in existance? anyone else on this site work for them?

Not correct.

Butts got the contract from H&H, who also had Netto, and not long after, there was some legal proceedings going off I think between H&H and Poundies. Poundies have changed owners twice since I left 5 years ago, and are now owned by some outfit near Leicester.

I still go in from time to time on the agency.

its a bit of a long shot but do any of you remember a chap called billy potter ? he ran a few wagons from his garage in sowerby bridge . as i remember he had a scania 111 / 112 and an 81 , he also ran a couple for someone else one of which was a yellow trancon with “pharoe trucking” on the front , he ran them on ferrymaster .

Billy Potter moved to Bradford and did Paul Bannons work (Bannon and Ward) He had a few Scanias by that time running abroad,Adrian Bannon worked in his office.The site is a housing estate now

used to go with dad on ferrymasters he worked for alwyn davison with a c series erf went like the wind and used to run to ipswich with billy potters men every saturday he had a 6x2 daf 2800 which had the tag added and would hardly turn and some smart scanias they had WP in lights on the front grill

They had 2 motors a scania 4 wheeler rigid and an artic delivering eggs from Hebden Bridge to Morrisons junction 41 7 days a week

he was a good mate of an acquaintance of mine, who told me that he had had a breakdown many years ago and was never well after that? my best mate at school also had a cousin who went o/d after working for WWP, colin spencer was his name but again i never knew him directly

just reading that, it sounds more like the deep south of america than west yorkshire - can you hear the banjos, boy? :laughing:

Colin Spencer was in the same yard as Billy Potter they were at Mandale Mills off Beacon Road Bradford.Colin had a few new Sanias on continental work

Has Chris Metcalfe from Dalton Lane,Keighley been mentioned.I backloaded off them in the late 60s.I can’t recall seeing any photos.
