Work Boots

outrigger boots from wynsors hi top boots and cheap comfy but last a good year depending on job, last pair off boots i tried them they sell in services at £25 only lasted 6months absolute rubbish and once the insole has worn out uncomfy as hell.

Bought a brand new in the box pair of Dickies boots from a local E.Bayer about 3 weeks ago, and they are without doubt the best I’ve ever had.

Not bad for £10.

Brown rigger boots without doubt

Not long ago bought a pair of trojan boots for driving, lightweight extreeeemly comfortable, toe tectors are non metalic, very flexable sole, great for hot weather !! got these from arcoooo  . I’ve yet to see how long they last, cost around the fifty mark. Previous to that I had a cheap pair of atlan ‘steelies’ from a local cheap shop in town for aprox 22 quid , they lasted about 9 months & then the insides started to go lumpy, pity, they were a great pair of boots until then although a bit hot in summer :unamused:

i just binned a pairt of jcb riggers and they were truly the best boot i’ve had.
not a fan of rigger style boots but these have converted me.they were completely worn out when i finally had to let them go.they lasted about 18 months which is spectacular on my work.
a normal boot(was using CAT lace up boots prior to this) last about 5 to 6 months.
cheap boots literally last a few weeks.
currently in a pair of dickies slip on boots and they still haven’t moulded to my feet after 3 weeks.
i tried a pair of dickies riggers but the lining became detatched in them after 4 days and i had to cut the boot off my foot with a stanley knife as it wouldn’t let my foot out of the boot.bin.
back to looking for a genuine set of jcb riggers this week.

I have some Dr Martens industrial ones. Got given them by work which was lucky because they seem quite expensive. Either way they are a very nice boot. Comfy from the day i got them. I spend all day on my feet in them and do quite a bit of walking. The soles have worn down but they still have live left in them.
If i were to have to pay for them then im not sure if i would. Ive had them over a year and i suppose that the sole has worn down slightly more then i would have liked. I dont think my next pair of safety footwear from work will be as nice unfortunately
These ones

Brown rigger boots without doubt

According to my GP, who advised me not to wear rigger boots, they are really BAD for people’s feet because the soles are too rigid.
I also found that they made my feet too hot in summer.
Rigger boots aren’t normally chemical proof, so on tanker work I also found that the uppers split and come away from the soles after only a few weeks.

:bulb: Generally, you get what you pay for, but each to his own.

Re —rigger boots
Some firms ban them (Rugby Cement at err Rugby) and wont let you in if wearing them.
Also Wilko stores sell a pair of leather insole for about £3 and this may make a boot more comfy.
:sunglasses:

I prefer safety boots because they are zero rated (0% VAT), whereas safety shoes aren’t (20% VAT)

I’ve got a pair of DM Industrial “Hamilton” boots and have been generally happy with them.

2nd choice

I wear these because they have really cool names and I can pretend I’m in the SAS  .

Some look like they have steel toe caps without actually having them which suits me and no one has called me on it yet.

My feet are different to most other feet, so… the ones that work for me might be painful to wear for you.
I would say you just have to try them on, and try to find some with soles that are not made of synthetic iron.
Otoh, asking how long shoes last, and who don’t might be useful, imo.

I have been wearing nothing but safety capped shoes and boots for the last…uh…18 years.
Make sure the cap is wide enough, so you don’t get the end of the cap chewing your toes.
Steel(metal) caps are ok in summer, but freaking cold in winter. Synthetic caps (kevlar or similar) are better.
Try to get some that breathe, if your work allows.
Sweaty feet and shoes smell bad, and cold feet ■■■■ in winter.

Well some very interesting replys
Thank you to all for giving me some good choices to think about.
Some good some not so good :open_mouth: frankybaby.
THO… i might consider them when on a night out

I always find boots uncomfortable for driving long distances so I wear leather clack/flipflops for driving (a throwback from my European days I suppose :unamused: ) and keep my riggers handy in side cupboard for other work, both easy to slip on and off, and keeps cab floor tidier also does away with the stink of rotten feet when you park up at night that you get with wearing boots all day.

doc marten steel toe cap seven hole boots,£45 from screwfix.
very comfy but a bit heavy.last well though

I got these bad boys :sunglasses:
