So many options to choose from in this thread. I’ve got some DeWalt waterproof boots with steel caps and I seriously need to replace them as they are causing me all sorts of problems for my feet :
Winter - frikkin FREEZING cold and make my feet like ice blocks which makes them moist and I get soggy socks and athlete’s foot
Summer or any other time - make my feet sweat like [zb] which makes them moist and I get soggy socks and athlete’s foot…
I’ve got poor circulation in my lower legs and feet (hereditary) and even get sweaty feet just lounging round the house with loafers on, with or without socks. If I go bare foot then my feet freeze, regardless of room temp.
Another issue to throw into the mix is that one of the places I deliver to regular has a dirt yard where I have to paddle around in water several inches deep which is high enough to come over the laces if it’s been raining.
What to do guys? Anyone else suffer with the sweaty peets and athlete foot problem? Is there a type of boot which will solve all my problems in one (incl the 3-4" of water paddling) or am I going to need a separate rigger boot/welly for that and some ‘general’ boots for general use?
Atm I slip my boots off when driving and drive in my socks but it’s quite a weird feeling and doesn’t feel too safe either .

I do that as well, but for me it feels weird to drive in boots. I think it’s because it’s only been in the last 4 or 5 years I have had to wear safety boots for work and after driving for the first 20 years of my driving career in anything but safety boots it just doesn’t feel right wearing them. In my current 8 or 9 hour shift I probably wear my boots for half an hour at the start of the shift, 5 - 10 minutes in the middle and 5 minutes at the end. The rest of the time it’s socks only.
'Element II 'hiker style boots , Breathable Gore-Tex and comfortable from new Steel-Toe from Arco = £75 Expensive but last a long time, lightweight and good feel (when driving if you dont wear trainers, sandals, flip flops etc)
On the budget side ; Groundwork Steel- Toe basketball/ Hiker style at Shoe Fayre shops and market stalls about £25 , Again very comfortable even new from the box but your feet can sweat a bit in these.

They are the ones I use, last pair lasted me over 2 years and I bought a new pair about 6 months ago. Can’t say I’ve had a problem with sweat.
We buy them them take the receipt in and get the money back, that way you can get what you want rather than any old crap the company give you.
Magnums are about the best I’ve had, but pricey; I prefer the high leg lace-up type, gives better ankle support.
Our mill issue riggers or the cheapest Arco lace-ups, can’t persuade our boss that you only get what you pay for and that’s why a lot of the guys are going through two pairs a year, normally they split or the stitching goes before the soles wear out. Those Magnums of mine have lasted me four years, and when they were in better nick I wore them on the bike as well, they’re nearly as waterproof as German para boots.
i have a mix really , if i’m local i’ll keep me boots on ,but for a decent run i’ll wear trainers .
I have a pair of Dr martens saftery boot , similar to the saxon they do now , but mine has a different sole pattern & non grainy leather, very comfortable but unfortunately discontinued for a while now, & i’m on my last pair (bought 4 pairs about 5yrs ago) the laces arn’t done up but are tied back so i can slip them off easily .
The other pair i carry about are a pair of DeWalt rigger boots , not furlined but are insulated, but arn’t that comfortable to drive in (need more wearing in ) although probably the best rigger boot i’ve worn yet.
unfortunately cow muck isn’t nice to the stitching on boots , so i go through the work issued ones fairly quickly
Ask your boss to supply them as he has a duty to supply all health and safety compliant equipment, including Boots, Hi-Viz, Wet weather equipment, etc etc, or supply your own and give him the receipts.

BUY THESE
these blundstone and redback are excellent boots for driving as they are soft, light and easily removed and last for years.
DONT BUY THESE
61.99 from screwfix and after 2 days driving, the rubber came off the bottom of the soles and the soles started peel away from the leather
took them back yesterday and got a full refund

Personally, i’ve had these for 6 months or so, and I doubt I will ever go back to anything else.
Altberg Peacekeeper P3 Aqua
Steel toe and midsole, sturdy, good ankle support, fully waterproof up to the top, fit like a glove (full range of half sizes), comfortable as slippers out of the box, and quick and easy to get on and off in the footwell of a truck. They polish up like never every time.
Not cheap at £115, but if you look after them, they will last you more than a few years. When the sole wears down, you send them back and they can fit a new sole for you.
Make good walking boots as well.
Wore Altbergs throughout the 6 years I was in the army and would never wear anything else now.
