It doesn’t always pay to cut corners, as this driver discovered this morning on cobham services!
I betz willi isn’t too pleased
Ok i’ll grab my coat
How did he manage that in a left ■■■■■■? It was well bogged down when I saw it
It’s a wonder the HA hadn’'t had the m25 and a 25 mile exclusion zone set up due to the ADR on the truck
It does scare you the people that are let loose with a truck and sent out on the road!!
I think he got told the overnight parking fees, and had some sort of seizure!
can someone photoshop the crane so it reads ■■■■■■…that always seems to help lift willys…
I don’t think he’s the first one to end up in the mud on those services, every time I’ve been in there, there are big rut in the verges and damaged lamp posts. One seemed after a truck had tried to get out of the car pumps and another was from where a truck had tried to get into the car park.

I think Britain need new architects… \\How many places are too narrow for lorries even in industrial areas! Or just watch the kerbline at the J 19 M1; if you are coming from A 14 and taking M6, you can manage to stay in lane and do not hit the kerb, if there’s no one beside you…
don’t get me started on designers. Most of them haven’t driven a truck and seem to want to make approaches to roundabouts impossible for a truck not to negotiate it with a car in the outside lane without cutting the corner with the trailer. They sharpened up the corners of the off slip at j4 of the m57 northbound. The idea is to slow traffic for the roundabout, in reality it makes cars cut across the inside lane from the outside lane whilst the truckers have to take the unit out across the line of the 2nd lane to get the trailer around the bend onto the roundabout. It was a waste of time and money.
Will be a dear recovery that, hiring a crane.
Wonder why they didn’t just winch it out with a wrecker?

They must have decided doing that would cause a lot more damage to either the truck or the ground, looking at it the trailers right down onto the sideskirts so if it’s a Euro Lowrider, dragging it would probably mangle the outfit.
There are signs on the entrance to these services showing pictures of a car and a lorry and which lane those vehicles should use.
Saying that I think that these services are badly designed.
That is the 3rd HGV to get stuck that I know of.
I saw an Italian artic with it’s trailer wheels buried in the mud awaiting recovery the other week.

Maybe, shouldn’t be a problem for a rotator to lift out though? I can think of 3 outfits within half an hour of there that own rotators capable of doing this job.
Got to be cheaper than hiring a crane. I would expect the crane hire to be over a grand at an absolute minimum.
job we did, the police wanted the contents of a 40’ container removing from the scene. 2 options, spend a day handballing bits onto trucks and running it back to base, or hire a crane and just lift the container out.
We got quotes from 4 crane hire places and the cheapest was £1350, just to lift the container onto our trailer.
I agree the driver is clearly a plonker, BUT those services are badly designed. Just like far too many of them these days.
The fashion for lots of twisty bends to “calm” traffic and send you round areas of greenery to make it look like you’re not in a concrete ■■■■ hole next to a motorway is silly. The older services are much more HGV friendly IMHO.

Basically, a big mother-fudger of a recovery truck.
Looking at the pic again, I wonder if there was a risk of it rolling hence not wanting to just drag it? Looks to be a good angle.

That Fiat 500 in your picture is yours??
One of the most awesome sights you’ll see (or hear) on the UK’s highways!
Crouch’s 75 ton Rotator.
