Yes mate, i did run out of there for a bit til we lost the transport to you lot When i was 1st on widdo’s, Rab Karcher was at the old Gimson site (swan mills) in leicester.

Cyril knowles ltd-(now no longer with us) 96-2001. hated it. serious graft, only a distant acquaintance with the rule book and the top manager (who looked like Billy Bunter of Greyfriars) was a complete turd who needed a ■■■■ good slap.

previous to that as a young man a new company everytime I got fed up of the colour of the truck I was driving!
but jobs were plentiful then and some only lasted a day or two, shortest was less than 2 hours for which I never got paid!
my first driving job was for huntly & palmer ,parkinson biscuits ,simmons bewery, ameys transport,air products 26 years there,then tesco ,asda, city transport useless firm ,then we moved back to Norfolk where i worked for turners on bulk liquids for 7 years before i retired ( PHEW )

Far too many to count here. My father drove for the same small company for forty-two years. I went completely the opposite way, working for ddozens of small firms all my working life. The only large outfit I drove for was BRS, for two periods during the 60’s & 70’s. With hindsite, those two twelve-month periods were probably the most enjoyable.
