Hi all
Just read your comments about our site at Whitwood. Obviously devastated at the negative comments.
Over the last 2 years we have made a number of improvements including management change for both the filling station and the cafe. We feel both the filling station and cafe have substantially improved in many ways including customer service, facilities and cleanliness.

When will the new site be open

I went in to whitwood for some diesel about 5am on a Monday morning about 8 week ago…iv not been in for ages due to bad service well I put over 500 litre of fuel in and didn’t get a word out of the bloke serving never mind a thank you so I won’t be going back any time soon.
I also understand (so I’m told) the Irish bloke is still there on a night who is a complete liability with an attitude problem.
Plus I drive past last week to see some of the catering staff drinking alcohol outside,now I understand they might of finished there shift but it still doesn’t look good in the middle of the afternoon.
Exelby A19 south bound especially very friendly staff and reasonable parking charges,north bound could do with a bit of work but is a smaller site.
Is the one further up the A19 an exelby site■■?
Ps fair play to you eggman for asking for the feedback.
you wont please everyone eggman but yeah the lassies in the shop at whitwood can use colourful language at times but they always been ok with me, never used the cafe after a bad experience 12 years ago. whens the new londonderry services opening ?
Have to agree with posts about staff in fuel station.
Feel about as welcome as a ■■■■ it a spaceship. 
Since these comments are being reviewed by the management of the services in question, I am sure the one on the A19 North with the low canopy (Below 16’) is owned by Exelby as well, can you put signs up a bit further back telling people that there is a height restriction. it is dangerous to have HGV’s reversing onto a slip road to turn left to go around the building.
People pulling high trailers can’t see the height restriction before its too late to turn left into the truck park
How the HA let that be I will never know.

Just remembered where Whitwood is, only ever been in for fuel, but I concur, the service in that place is SHOCKING! Or at least it was a year ago, haven’t been in since out of protest.
Do you still have the large collection of dodgy/copyrighted/pirated DVD’s for sale on the front counter?

New manager in place now, Kerry Matthews, since you were last in and lots of changes including no more ‘dodgy’ dvds etc.

It’s something we have considered for some time. When we opened A19 Northbound overnight for a week about a year ago due to A19 Southbound being shut because of roadworks we had quite a few drivers call in that didn’t use the A19 southbound. We always assumed vehicles travelling north would crossover to the southbound services on a night, but clearly this isn’t happening.

I called in at whitwood the other week for a shower paid £2-£3 can’t remember exactly.
Although they were new clean were a little on the small side and on a timer.
I was going to have something to eat but the dining area was a bit dingy and put me off so didn’t bother. Could do with a througher clean cooking area aswell. Could do better as its a good site.
I also have encounted the same problems northbound A19 with it been closed at night.
Looking forward to the new site opening on A1 hope this setts the standed for the rest to follow.

Mine would be mainly for fuel as a bit close to home for night out most of the time
When you running for time you dont think to cross over as can eat too much time up going north then back south then in mor / afternoon south to go north if it was easier to turn round then maybe
But non of the services are open north bound but all south that all might be worth a proper trial

Nearest services accessible from the NBC is the one on the A19/A689 (Wolviston)… A long way away from Wetherby Services (52 Miles)
They are another one that closes the store of a night time (Letterbox), but McDonalds is open all night and sells coffee and hot food! The dipstick last time was ranting on about issuing me a parking fine, I had a laugh and politely explained HE can not FINE ME!
But I would urge the owners to consider some sort of security other than the letterbox approach to night time serving, especially as they can’t normally serve coffee.
