I Paid for mine myself.
Passed Cat C at Enfield July 2007
Passed Cat C&E at Featherstone October 2007

Did my ‘Class One’ at Bredbury, Stockport in March 1975, after a couple of hours training each weekend after my 21st birthday at the end of January 1975. It cost me around £140.00 paying for the lessons by the hour and then test fee and an extra hour before test. It seemed at a lot of dosh at the time and the guy I was working for kept saying that he would help with the cost but he never did and before long I moved on to pastures new and what was really funny was that he had forgotten he hadn’t helped me with any of the cost of getting my HGV and tried saying he would deduct the money from my wages before I left!!!
Oh how I laughed
Still left on good terms and went back a couple times when times were hard

PS Thanks to Johnny Stroggles (instructor) and to Robert Walkers Transport at Woodley who let us use their yard for practicising manouvring and learning how to reverse an artic, thanks guys

Paid for intence corse through clearstone back november 07 which included class 1 and 2 which cost me £1990 if i booked for both. Passed my class 2 in the feb 08 second time, then went onto book class 1 and as it took me twice to pass class 2 they wanted an extra £100 to book class 1 so i paid on the monday over the phone, they then gave me a date. A week later heard nothing so phoned back to be told by an answering machine that they went into administration on the tuesday., rest of money lost so booked classs 1 though local firm passed first time at the cost of justy over £500 since then just 3 day’s agency work, but fortuantly have good full time job as site formann to rely on
