Why can’t you overtake if you want to go faster?
Overtaking is fine so long as your at the front of the queue and the road is decent enough. In a truck the opportunities are pretty much few and far between. Its not like when your in a car and you can take out a queue or pick off vehicles one by one.
I really don’t see why people need to rush about. I can do all my days work driving at the legal speed limits and still get finished on time, most days early. Today I started at 515 finished at 1015 all work completed without breaking any speed limits.

From reading the comments all i can see is that drivers who do 56Mph in a 40 limit are suggesting that people who are obeying the limit of the road are to move out of the way in to a lay by to let these muppets through. Thing is, and i know you 56mph nutters might not be able to take this in, it’s the speed limit. That person who is doing 40mph is not doing anything wrong. The person who is in the wrong is the muppet who wants to do 56mph in a 40 limit.
I can ensure you that when i am doing 40mph i won’t be moving over at all. You will have to wait for a chance to get past. you won’t pay the fine nor take my points when i get them for speeding.

And last night on the A75, in thick fog with visibility down to 50 yards, I was travelling at 35mph and sure enough, a queue of paddies were behind me. Not one of them was brave enough to go for it! So much for the paddy hard-men in their 600 Scannies.For the first time in living history we are now being criticised for not overtaking on the A75. You honestly couldn’t make this ■■■■■■■■ up. Had one overtaken then you would still be on here crying about how dangerous we are.
Don’t think so, but there’s no point flashing the spotlights at me, trying to make me go faster in thick fog…when he wouldn’t go faster himself and overtake.
If you want to go faster than me…on you go…I’m not stopping you. The only thing stopping him overtaking was himself…just a wimp behind the wheel.
You could have moved over for a few seconds into a layby and let them get on with it?

I use to be a proper little 40mph man when i first started would sometimes do 42 if i was feeling brave lol, then i got a another job working for ■■■■■■■■■ and they started pushing me to go quicker and quicker, started off as [zb]itty remarks when i got back, then they’d put more and more work on me and i had to get back no matter what as the truck was needed for the night run, then they started going for it down the phone and not long after that i left. I’ve slowed down abit now, normally sit around the 50 mark and dont bother overtaking will just sit behind and take in the view.
What you gota remember is, if someone pulls out in front of you when your breaking the 40 limit on a S.C and you kill them, you’l be spending some time in the big house for a while!!
Couple of years ago i had some dung dabber pull out in front of me in one of those 4WD farm buggy things, like a qaud but with a roof on. I very nearly hit him, had i done, he would have been dead and if it not for the fact i was doing 40, he would have been!
