I was going to try Injuryrobbingbastards4u
The most stress was when the depot manager said, we’ll phone an agency to do your run, and call an ambulance for you.
I said, just get some steri strips & let me crack on, Nope, I can’t let you drive in case you pass out on the M1
Well, once the ambulance left & said I was fine, the agency still hadn’t turned up, So I signed a disclaimer & off I went,
2.5 hours after the first trunk (he left at 10) I was due out at 10.30, left at 12.30 & still beat him to the Hub, He sat on the M1 for over 2 hours behind a pile up - I went up M40 and got there just before him - result
Limping unaffected & fine thanks, But I did bash my head on that silly CF window when backing on the bay, and it started bleeding again !!
GasGas:
LF 2-axle rigids with cab from a Renault Midlum. Optional sleeper. Most in UK are 7.5 tonnes.CF Distribution truck, with optional sleeper + high roof. Rigid with up to 4 axles or 2 or 3 axle tractor
XF Long haul truck. Big sleeper cab as standard. chice of low, medium (Space) or high (Super Space) roof. Usually sold in UK as tractor, but some rigids also. Cab dates back to a joint venture between DAF and Pegaso of Spain way back in the 1980s and was also used on the first Seddon Atkinson Stratos …yes I really am that old, and so is the cab.
XF 30 next year IIRC.

I don’t get why the silly quarterlight window was retained, again without opening. At least it opened on the Leyland Bison.
And although the CF85 seems more comfortable than the 75, for a modern truck the seating position is poor. The old Leyland Daf cabbed version was better with the flat steering wheel and pop out notepad thing on the steering wheel boss.
And why don’t Daf reintroduce the rubber suspension found on Foden Alphas? Quieter, smoother ride and lighter too.

Blood still on the bottom of the door

personally i find that suegrabandrun would be the most profitable company to pursue a claim on your behallf, but as far as the original question and being spawned from the demise of british leyland…then…
CF…completely forked.
XF …xtremely forked…

Had I been there…
When you did that. In the true tradition of worrying about your fellow driver and being concerned for his welfare.
I’d have larfed my ■■■■■■■ head off.

They both offer the same engines up to 480hp, its only the cab size and as some have mentioned the CF is more suited to shorter haul work but having said that is still a capable 44tonne truck with the right engine gearbox combination and would still be a viable distance truck if the budget was tight.
Only the XF lends itself to baubles and frillies though…
XF offers 510 where s the CF doesn’t

I’ve seen a E6 CF with low cab and small midlift axle, and it says it’s a 510 on the door. Or has someone been tinkering with the badges?

The XF is ever so slightly better than an old Premium, the CF is a lot worse. That’s the difference. They’re both crap!

Looked at the daf site, says you can spec a 510hp in a cf… ■■■■ me, bit of a monster in a day cab unit…
One is a heap of ■■■■, the other is a hotel on wheels and a pleisure to drive…oh by the way…the first one is the CF…the second is the XF
I think we might be being a bit harsh on the CF, after all it’s not that bad a truck,
I mean - I’d pick one over an Axor any day!!
DAF is definitely losing out in the hp race, i think its the old 11.6 litre theyre still using…
