I’m looking at moving out of London, and been looking on Rightmove etc at houses around the country. I’ve got inTerested in Leicestershire , I know Leicester itself is a dump, but I’m looking more at villages to the South of Leicester like Stoney Stanton , narbourough , Burbage hinkley that sort of area. Any advice on nice places and places to avoid would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance. The Burbage side of Hinckley is best (and most expensive), I live there and it’s close to the M69 motorway and A5 so you can get easy access to crick, leicester, nuneaton etc. Stoney Stanton and Sapcote have good links too, avoid Barwell, Earl Shilton, Wykin, Braunstone, Highfields. The Leicester Forest East area of Leicester is ok, better than Narborough.
Thanks Turbot , I’ve gathered just by looking at Barwell prices and street views it ain’t the best. From what little I’ve heard Burbage is very nice . I’ve heard Enderby has a gipsy site , is it big ? I don’t think I fancy that . Any areas prone to flooding ?

I’ve got about fifteen towns in England on my iPhone weather app. To be fair your the furthest north and I wouldn’t even consider the rain sodden west of England , but you ate consistently the coldest and wettest area . Plus the RAF fella I speak to whose from Leicestershire reckons Colvilles a bit like the film Deliverance.

Duh !! I’m quite aware it’s in the East Midlands , I thought the clue was I wouldn’t even consider the West of England but I’ve got Coalville down on my iPhone app . Perhaps the inbred thing was correct. Stick to playing banjos and squel like a pig . And yes it’s definitely the coldest and wettest town in the area I’m looking at .
hinckley getting regenerated…

Cheers Andy , my Nans originally from Loughborough so have some connection with the area . Love the Ska logo by the way.
Hinckley is like God’s Waiting Room, but the location is ideal for Distribution Jobs.

^+1 or come from shepshed and emigrated to coalville☺
Leicester is much cleaner compared to places like Peterborough.
It’s also a great choice of places to get a Tandori too, although if you fancy an English instead, you might be disappointed by the low-calibre of the local fayre.
The worst chippy I’ve ever had was obtained in Carlisle. I don’t think Stobart had anything to do with it though.
I’ve always heard that Leicester is/was the first large city in the uk to have a white minority, is that the case? I’ve never been, other than to tip at widdowsons which is Coalville area.
I recommedn Wigston Magna as a South Leicestershire town…not far from Leicester but far enough and has lots of facilities and easy to get to M1, M69…Magna Park and Leicestershire is good as it is central England and I reckon it will be good for jobs…for when I pass myself.
I would not live South Wigston though as it’s pretty run down…bit like Coalville is.
Also if you live wigston Magna or anywhere near Welford road that way,you have THE best Chippie in the world…Grimsby Fisheries…I have now started another argument…as I know the Leicester bods on here will have differeing opinions
all in all… Wigston Magna or anywhere that side including Oadby…nice places to live. If you want further out then Market Harboro…but you are getting further away from ease of access to motorways etc for jobs
And yes Billy I think I heard that this year about minorities…Leicester is probably the most multi cultural city outside of London…not sure and personally am proud to Live in Leicester…although am from Notts really…keeping that quiet though lol

I love a curry , but I’d prefer to live away from areas that have lots of curry houses.
