I’m looking at moving out of London, and been looking on Rightmove etc at houses around the country. I’ve got interested in Leicestershire , I know Leicester itself is a dump, but I’m looking more at villages to the South of Leicester like Stoney Stanton , narbourough , Burbage hinkley that sort of area. Any advice on nice places and places to avoid would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I wouldn’t say its a dump, no worse than any other similar sized city. Good market too.

I lived in Wigston for the last 17 years (now moved back to the Cotswolds) so can probably help a bit. Really depends on whether you are looking for a small village or whether you need the amenities of a town
If I had to choose an area to live in around there it would probably be in or around Market Harborough, there are a lot of nice little places along the Harborough/Lutterworth corridor and they have the advantage of easy access to the M1/M6/A14. Harborough itself is still a decent small town and gives you access to Northampton rather than having to go to Leicester.
Wife worked in Hinckley for a fair time and would not recommend Barwell or Hinckley, Burbage isn’t too bad but nothing special. Stoney Stanton used to be nice but a lot of new housing there means the heart has gone out of it. Narborough is really just a suburb of Leicester, again no real heart to it.
Main advantage is that there is a lot of cheaper housing around there - we’ve recently downsized from a 5 bed detached up there to a 3 bed detached down here for the same money 
.

The only place i would move to is Yorkshire

It certainly is, I remember Fulham playing away to Sunderland a few years back and I was out on my patio in shorts with my top off ( not a pretty sight) sipping wine and saying how hot it was. The game started at Sunderland and we was winning 1-0 for what I think would have been our first away win of the season, all of a sudden a blizzard started and it was so bad the game got called off, I ended up sun burnt

The Burbage side of Hinckley is best (and most expensive), I live there and it’s close to the M69 motorway and A5 so you can get easy access to crick, leicester, nuneaton etc. Stoney Stanton and Sapcote have good links too, avoid Barwell, Earl Shilton, Wykin, Braunstone, Highfields. The Leicester Forest East area of Leicester is ok, better than Narborough.
