I had a trip down memory lane today, I delivered to AMG at North Weald and it occurred to me that the last time I drove here was about 30 years ago. As a small boy the prospect of being able to drive something ws quite exciting. Especially one of these.
An Austin seven, Fordson and Massey Harris tractors, Dumper truck, and Wolsley 4/50 All when i was about seven. All but the wolseley was off road, and the wolseley was up and down the village roads!
My old fellas MK1 Cortina sat on his knee, as probably most boys did when they were infants.
And then at 14, and before I was old enough to hold a licence I was driving Leyland FG 550’s on the roads around South Shields. (But don’t tell my brother in law, as he’s a taffic cop there now.)
Before I eventually got my licence, Leyland Terriers, Leyland Roadrunners, Leyland Boxers and an array of cars and motorbikes were piloted.
But now I’m a fine upstanding pillar of the community, you wouldn’t catch me doimg ANYTHING dodgy. (Honest guv.)
A 1989 Ford Sierra Ghia estate, Mercury grey metallic, 2 litre twin cam EFI engine. I wish I still had it. Unfortunately the rust got to it around the 220k mile mark.
