First car … pea green VW polo Mk 1 with 100k miles that my dad found and brought for me out of my grandparents savings because he had read that they were safe in ‘Which’ magazine. Safe cos they only had an 800cc engine. Not so safe when they break down in the middle of a motorway roundabout. Bless ya Dad you did what you thought was right.
First truck was a 7.5t DAF 45 owned by my ex girlfriends dads scaffold company. I was so keen to impress that I loaded about 5 tonnes of tubes and planks on to it and creaked back to the yard at 30 mph. Had no idea of weight limits or tacho laws or how to handle a vehicle larger than a transit. On one hand I am glad of ‘grandfather rights’ cos I wouldnt have got my current job without it. But really everyone should have to take a test to drive anything bigger than a van. Just cos you have held a car licence for x amount of years doesn’t mean you can jump in to a truck and know how to drive it.
An Austin 1100, that my mate nicked when we were 13. I thanked him, by smashing into a Fiat x19 at 3 in the morning, when I crashed in the snow on a bend. Sorry to all involved. I am not proud.

First vehicle ever:
I was on holidays in the countryside and they let me drive it, I somehow engaged field gear (it’s something like cruise control) and did not knew how to stop bloody thing. That was scary.
Then it was a go-kart, my cousin used to race them when he was about 13. I was given a spin around the track, but my legs were too long and I could not use gear box.
Then it was my dad’s car, identical to that one:
As for first commercial vehicle, I had a chance to drive our scout’s team Nysa 223:
First vehicle I was paid to drive was Polonez Truck:
