Yep

Im a massive V8 Scania fan the 141 is the best looking truck ever BUT IMO the Iveco Eurostar with the 420 hp Alto Cab and Manual box is the best truck ever, It was value for money had a massive cab ZF box bomb proof drive axle and engine, it would have been much better with the 17ltr V8 BUT because of the cab/engine layout you couldnt get the ZF in RHD with the V8

What about a iveco turbostar 190 48. They where cheap powerful light good cab and a good engine

Scania 143-450, best lorry ever made, no doubt in my mind :sunglasses:

I had a 480 Turbostar, it was a fantastic lorry and very reliable, it would ■■■■ all over Scanias in the mountains too, but it wasn’t as good a lorry as the 143, apart from going uphill the Scania was just that little bit better in every area

What about a 143 500

Bag of ■■■■■■ if the 470 I had was anything to go by, maybe they had improved by the end of the 3 series, but the early ones were very unreliable and didn’t go like a V8 Scania is meant to go.

I think a scania 164 is the best lorry they never go Wong they have lots of power they don’t look as old as they are and there’s lots of speace in the cab and the price of them are not bad for what you get. What more do you want

Sorry about the arse about fotos, just cant seem to get it right■■?

However back to the topic, the Scania was without a shadow of doubt the best lorry i drove, a complete animal of a thing, even putting up with the bouncy cab and the tendancy to knock itself out of top gear on a big bump…

The Transcon was one of me old Dads, KNE567V. And evidently was the best motor ever put together in the whole world, according ti him anyway…

I also had an old Daf 2800… Ex general express… Wernt the quickest or the comfiest…but the old b’stard never let me down…

My da drove one of them transcons once too he said they were not very good but it wasn’t a good one like that one in the picture and as for the 143 I think they are the best looking lorry ever made but never drove one so don’t now what there like to drive but been in a 113 car transporter and it is very good

I also had a Transcon, an iconic lorry and no doubt about that in my mind, however they were long in the tooth by then and apart from the image and reputation they were no better than any of the other British lorries with the ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ driveline. Maybe in the 70s they were up there with the best, but then again given the choice of a 141, an 89 or a Transcon, I think the Big Henry would come last almost every time.

I loved mine, driving a Transcon down to the bottom of Italy was a dream come true for me, literally, as I had a fleet of Corgi Transcons as a kid, but best lorry ever made, no way, not even in the top ten as far as I’m concerned

Volvo fh/fm the version 1 and 2 iv not driven the new one yet but iv had both fh and now I have an fm and although basic it’s good and solid, pulls like a train for a 440 on a 56 plate aswell.
I used to have a scania 144 top line on an 04 plate I got it new and I loved it but given the choice think the volvo wins…
Also look at the amount of old volvos still out there working that must say something about the quality.

Its a hard one ,from a bosses view or a drivers view, what you class as the best ■■?
i never drove for companies wi the biggest and top o the range buggies…horses for courses…speaking as a driver a wagon that started, stopped and didnt let me down ,wasnt the fastest nor the slowest …
for me it was a LHD Maggie 192/16 M drawbar outfit .never a problem!.
I have a soft spot for the Volvo F10 wi a 16speed box as well.
also not forgeting the auld Mack CH daycab (last o the real Macks) i drive …its a wee bit noisy, a few rattles, pulls like a train…and a big plus you can sort at the side o the road …not a lot of electrics…people wont sell them if they run them.
best i can say …jimmy (33yrs driving).
