No surprises you come up with that response !!

Not graphic enough in my eyes.
That sort of thing happens too often. Too many innocent people get their life cut short because of ■■■■ heads.

I doubt many lorry drivers would even think about drink driving surely?

Unless of course, it’s shandy

Huh… We know cars shouldn’t do 50-60 on a dual carriageway, but they do and no number of graphic videos will get the MLOC to speed up.

Why shouldn’t they? Trucks shouldn’t do 56mph on a dual carriageway but they do and no number of graphic videos will get them to slow down.

I’m just trying to work out why some people are posting replies on what is clearly labelled as a PROFESSIONAL drivers forum.
We’ve all heard it before but if it would save just ONE life it would be worth making it a condition of being granted a driving licence that the applicant has to watch this film.
But then again, what do I know? I’ve only spent fifty years driving round the country, occasionally witnessing some pretty horrific scenes (and sometimes helping to clear them up) so maybe it’s not up to me to criticise those who seem to think that they are far too professional either to have accidents or to need advice.

Rant over.

For now!

What has this video got to do with lorry drivers?

Well said.

Just a bit of background:

You will recall the M62 Hen Party Incident. The Senior Officer at the
scene has never witnessed so much carnage in the whole of his career.
I was asked by West Yorkshire Police how we can cut down these daily disasters,
particularly involving HGV’s because I happened to be driving one at the time.

I suggested that it may help if we got to know exactly how these incidents
occurred and perhaps we could learn from the mistakes of others.
West Yorkshire Police are looking into this and the owner of this website
has given the green light to publish anything helpful that WYP can supply.

PS:
You may have seen elsewhere that the Minicoach Driver involved in the
M62 Hen Party Incident of 26/4/13 has today been arrested on suspicion
of causing death by dangerous driving. Initially the HGV Driver was arrested.

I’m not going to watch this because I’m a professional. I must be I’ve done loads of Driver CPC stuff so I don’t need to. Out of interest though, is there a Scottish bloke droning on in it, like the oil rig / helicopter one?

Completely agree no harm in watching it and if it makes one person think it may save a life.

You can’t even get away with watching a “special interest” film these days…

The flippant comments aside in this thread, the blood you see in that video is real, not staged for the cameras , that body under the sheet is not an actor, that’s a person who has lost their life.
Now I dont know about you lot, but I find nothing flippant or funny in that.

Every single one of you driving a truck can take a life tomorrow , so easily, just a moments inattention, a lack of a few hours shut eye, , or that one last pint.

I find that video sobering and also shocking, if you value what you do and the responsibilty that comes with that I hope you do to , if not your in the wrong job

I was responsible and sober long before I was patronised. I don’t need to be shocked into driving in the correct manner, if I did I would indeed be in the wrong job.

I am fully aware of my responsibilities and I value what I do dearly. It’s a shame that an awful lot of other road users seem to value their lives and mine even less than they value my contribution to society, the importance of road transport and the consequences of their actions.

I suggest that West Yorkshire Police stop chasing targets and headlines whilst wasting taxpayers’ money on movies and go and police the roads instead. That, after all is what they are paid to do.

If i wanted to be patronised about road safety I would visit the RoSPA or IAM website.
