Keith, Pete, from what I can recall the West Bromwich operation was a pure AEC owned outlet, the Birmingham New Road was Leyland and Scammell, as well as Albion…
What can one say about Richardsons operation on Dudley Road…over time it held…(and jolly well sold)…
Freighter swb chassis cabs…far more than any other dealer could cope with…
Bedfords entire TK production surplus…even parked every bit of spare ground in Oldbury, there were so many of them!
All of Leylands Bathgate 14.5 ton Municiple chassis production…(every single one knocked down by a quarter ton, when taken for test as a hire and reward machine)
The entire Foden S39 production with Leyland .680 engines…(boy could they go…far faster than that worm axle could cope with)!..we had one…eversooooooo cheap!..eversooo fragile!..eversoo fast!
AEC Marshall single drivers…there were lots of them around about their yard…wonder why the AEC Dealers could not take them…oh, and then there were those Ergomatic Mandators…great for steel, (but not on the Black Country`s short sharp banks!)
The “Rental Fleet”…lorries that you simply could not buy…but Roy and Don could rent them to you…(at a price).
They may have held the Leyland/AEC franchise, but whatever you wanted, then they could get it without problem…lots of stories , perhaps for another night…

I still fancy a pair of those horns, even after all these years!
Nice to see you’ve caught up with the technology, Pete, mine keeps getting worse. Serves me right for going for the cheapest option!
Pete, ROF, sorry that you both cannot make Cosford this week, was looking forward to meeting you both!
Those Dee Valley Lorries, boy, pictures just do not do them justice, that bright red shone…and how I lusted after their air horns…
One Saturday morning I had to barrell into Regent Street to collect one of our vans…a Dee Valley lad criticised the grime on my S21 Foden unit, “You need to look after that” he said…The grime had come from a rough trip down to Sicily, and over the top coming back…and I still had not got home !
Bloomin cheek, all they did was local UK stuff…and that was not hard at all!!!

Hi Saviiem , Thanks for that , i can remember Richardsons having several drivers based in the Welsh borders , no doubt Dave would have known most of them . They also had shunters based at Margham steelworks , and those Guys and Atkis gave a fine sight plodding up Clows Top .
Didnt the Richardsons in later years develop the Merry Hill centre , ? regards Keith .
Good pictures on here Dave would be so glad to see them . we never got to go to any road runs which we were intending to do . so will have to follow posts on here .

Retired Old ■■■■:
I’ve been wracking my brain (singular!) but I can’t remember seeing a Dee Valley F88. Anyone know how many they ran?
Hello ROF , i have asked a few of my old friends , and as far as we can tell it was only one F88, and one FL10 , but several F10s and 12s , thank you Trevor .
