Warning;Gibraltar tensions with Spain

There was one of there’s waiting at Dover for a ferry and it was Gib registered so maybe they are Toby.

Come on Toby, get on that famous bike of yours and get yourself down there to sort things out mate. A few hours locked in a room with yourself should have them giving up and going home!!

How long would it take to cycle from Caen to Gibraltar to sort out this rocky situation.■■

Yup Insight still go there, I had a night out with one at San Roque last week.
The Gibraltarians were right to put the reef there. Its British waters and they are trawling all the young fish wiping them out like they do everywhere else. Also the spanish have built there own reefs all around there coast. The main reason they are causing trouble is to divert public attention from the corrupt government and the state of their economy.
At the moment it aint causing to much trouble for the trucks. Its just causing misery for the ten thousand spaniards who work on the rock.

Does Gib have hidden under water submarine bases.?

Purely out of interest, what is the score with trucks going to Gibraltar? I’ve google earth / street viewed the border and there seems to be some kind of compound on the border that has a lot of trucks in it and loads of trucks and unaccompanied trailers from Continental Express parked there. Do the likes of Continental Express and other companies deliver directly in to Gibraltar after clearing customs or do they drop them in the compound and a local shunt truck delivers etc? Also, what is the customs process for taking loads there? Similar to Swiss, running on T-forms or totally different?

Most of the streets in Gib aren’t suitable to artic’s or large rigid’s. Most in town deliveries are done in little 3 tonners. The road going down the East side is a pretty reasonable down to Europa point.

Hi Robin. Normally we go into the compound wait for the paperwork and drive straight onto gib . Our trailers have normally been dropped by lazy gits who pretend they have run out of time so they can go to the pub. Or have other things to do.
Although its getting awkward nowadays as wherever we park the spanish impose no parking with 80 euro fines. We was even parking at a garage near algecira and all of a sudden ten empty trailers have been put there. You cant park on the waste ground or even the lorry park. They are just making it awkward for anything going to the rock.
So now most of us park 3 and half hours away at km730.
Which is the good thing about being double manned. We can always catch up.

Cheers for that. What is the customs process for Gibraltar? T-forms from the UK or not?

In actual fact Toby ,Yuppy from this forum is doing just that at the moment ( Gib to Jon a, Grouts),according to his Facebook page he was at Burgos yesterday.

I would assume the cycle route will be country lanes and rural towns rather than the National One from Burgos to Madrid.

Tensions maybe high ive done 3 trips in the last month and had no problem apart from cockups down to my company and the customer. As long as you are polite with the Guardia Civil and dont huff and puff about searches etc then you dont really have any problems.

Oh sometimes if its a bank holiday the paperwork can cause a problem for a day or 2 after thats the norm
