No there was no “freaky” stuff just straight questions and telling you about the job
So take it easy and hope it goes right for you.Let me know my man.

Suited and booted people! You want to make a good impression right? I just had an interview with the transport manager at my work and I was suited and booted. Got compliments for it too. Coincidently, the transport manager at my work is leaving at the end of the month to go to Waitrose. Something which I’ll bear in mind should my recent position go pear shaped

Tarrman:
Suited and booted people!

You wouldn’t wear a suit when driving so why wear one to the interview?

Suits are for weddings, funerals and court appearances…

Did the autocensor keep kicking in during the interview Bking? It must have been very unsettling for the interviewer. Or perhaps he thought that Norman Collier had come for a job!

First impressions comes to mind. I admit I see it on here about people going smart casual and taking safety boots etc but for these supermarkets it would go in your favour to wear a suit, unless it was an induction for an agency etc.

I went to an interview for an outfit in Manchester (details in another thread) in my suit and when I got there I knew straight away I was well over dressed. Suppose it depends on who you apply for.

I would wear a suit to a formal interview and bring passport and references as well. What do you call a Glaswegian in a suit?

The accused.

Group Interview done a dusted

Personally i would wear trousers, shirt and tie depending on what shirt it is if you get my drift?
Think a suit is a bit OTT
Most of the guys had trousers, shirt and tie, but a couple were just in jeans (smart not work).
If there’s a few cars at the gatehouse when you get there, pull up behind them get out your car and walk up to the gatehouse.Where you will sign in on site. They probably let about 10 cars a time through, security give you an induction before you can go on site and tell you where to park ETC. Make sure you only walk the way you have been told as the they watch, because if you cant get the basics right what chance have you getting the rest right  .Park up follow instruction to the front doors there you will be greeted!! Show some ID to the people that greet you write yourself a name badge job done.
You get split into groups then taken into a room.
They do an introduction, tell you what its all about. You do a couple of working in groups stuff, nothing to taxing just discuss with everyone!!! not really a wrong answer.Bit more about waitrose Then a final talk, couple of forms to fill in (availability what shift etc).then its a quick one on one to make sure your paper work is okay then your done
Cant see how they could tell if your going to be any good at the job from that but hey what do i know lol
hope this helps a few of you !!!
good luck if your going for an interview

Good luck matey! Is it still possible to apply for an interview?

Closing date was ages ago every man and his dog has applied? Think its about 800 don’t no if that’s all for drivers?
Job doesn’t start till end of June?

Ah right was just out of curiosity. I imagine it was a lengthy process on their behalf with the amount of folk that applied.

They told us at our Group Assessment that 2’500 people applied for the driving jobs.

That’s a crazy amount :open_mouth:

Only need the auto censor when Im dealing with idiots who think they know what they are on about and spout crap.Didnt need it on this occassion fortunately.

If the interviewer/assessor doesn’t like you, he’ll put you around enough 90 degree sharp left-handers until you kerb it…

If he does like you, he’ll talk about his wife a lot. :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s just a conspiracy to make you sign up for a lower T&C package out of fear…

For the supermarket that’s supposed to be “a cut above the rest”, they don’t pay anything special, use chatty old dafs which don’t have bunks on them.
Even on agency, you’ll struggle to get a decent-length shift out of them making any commute worthwhile…

I miss safeways personally… :frowning:

How do you know what they pay then?

Because I talk to other drivers at other venues who’ve been offered jobs there, but chucked it in after a few weeks because it wasn’t what it’s cracked up to be.

Mostly horrible start times (rotate around silly o’clock ultra-early/late starts), too-short shifts for the commute. Day cabs and old dafs is just something that irritates me rather than the others I was speaking to.
Being 18 months ago, the pay may have changed, but it was around the same as Morrisons back then. Morrisons were going to recruit “this spring” which I believe has now been put on hold, due to some poor result releases.

I’m not looking for 5 or 6 days a week work. I WOULD like what some would consider a part time job of Friday/Saturday/sunday 10-15 hour shifts over those 3 days only. 45 hours counts as full time in my book, so let’s not have anyone slag me off over me being some kind of lightweight. I’m after maximizing my pay for as few days of my life wasted per week as possible. In return, I proffer a spotless licence and two decades experience C+E meaning I don’t need a satnav or expensive insurance cover.

Waitrose, at least the one near me (Aylesford) I’ve never applied to, because they don’t have the shift patterns I want, and the other criticisms I’ve already made. OK, so I’ve gone on hearsay, but when it’s from someone I already know who did go in there to find out the hard way, I take any info given me very seriously. :sunglasses:
