hi lars gunner please would you know how many volvo f89 fuel tanks types were there i have a 1977 to restore thanks rowland

All I know is Volvo have used a 300 litre square fuel tanks a little rounded around all corner to all F89. It is valid for F88 too. Only in Australia this model had a rounded one. And now, other makes in USA have changed from round to square.

Hope I understand you right
Lars-Gunnar

Hi Guys, from what I recall the type Pete 359 refers to was fitted to 240, type 88s, all the 290 I remember had the bubble tanks, and were fitted as standard, was there an option to have the lager bubble tank, as the other smaller tank was std on 86’s///hope it helps

Nope , the ‘bubble’ tank was fitted to the last model 88 290’s- 76 onwards . The normal square tank- (like the F86 tank ) was standard fitment on all 88’s before then & alot of operators also fitted aftermarket catwalk tanks

heres some ‘early’ 290’s with the older ‘square’ tank

Volvo F88 ODV150P
I bought this truck in Cornwall in the late 90,s , with every intention of restoring , I did send it to the wrong person for restoration
and had retrieve it again .
The Volvo,s history I believe , it was new in 1975 to Mr Candy near Bath (Cattle Dealer ) , I can remember seeing it Highbridge Market in the 70’s painted up nicely Red Chassis Green Cab , some time in the early 80’s it was stretched for drawbar use , it was used to transport flowers or plants from Holland to the UK based in Kent , in the early 90’s it was on a farm at North Petherton awaiting restoration then went to Cornwall for restoration then it came back to Somerset , I sold to a gentleman from Yorkshire for restoration , 1988 last time it was taxed

Right I think al agreed on Overdrive / splitter. Now want to take jimski to task even though he backed me on the overdive argument  on his rather push his 88 than drive a Sed atk, because i loved my Strato Limited edition 410 ■■■■■■■ Eaton Twin SPLITTER over the yrs one of the moters I look back on & wished I was still driving it today instead of this 2 pedal Merc.(tin Hat on)

I bought a G reg Stratocriser with a 14L Big Cam 365 ■■■■■■■ from Manchester auction, got it back to Liverpool and a mate nearly ripped my arm off for it, I found out why a couple of years later when I took it back off him in PX for a K reg Turbostar. It pulled like a train but had started to ‘breathe’ a little & burn a gallon or 2 of oil a week, it still drove great an had lots of room inside. A great truck.

Here`s a pic I took while driving my88   of another 88 passing it think I took it for some competition Volvo were having. Not you is it wheelnut looks like Walkers on the Headboard or maybe Walters

Unfortunately not me. I never got the chance to drive one in proper anger, only off road. (well almost) I classed Hull Docks as offroad

Hiya …this volvo is AM Walker…it was also Midland Storage the driver is possibly Wally a pal of mine he had the first 88 on tank work(he had a Marshall at first) the later ones had the big grill IICR Jeff Skellan from Ashbourne had the lorry after Wal
