Beautiful! Actually, Jupiler bier is quite drinkable and not at all bad for Euro-fizz. (Sorry, I’m a bit of a real-ale man, but when I lived in Europe I drank what was available!). Robert

Bit of a shame it is being removed from its natural habitat, in my humble opinion.

I’m a card-carrying real ale man myself. I believe that naturally-conditioned lager is widespread in Germany, but I am not well- enough informed to say for sure (of course I have visited Germany, but not in enough depth to analyse the brewing). I would ask my acquaintances in the GB ale fraternity, but that is riddled with cf’s.

Hey, has he bought it in the Nederlands ■■?, it was already sold from Belgium to the Nederlands someone told me.
Have never seen it in real, but looks very nice.

About beer I 'm not a connoisseur, give me a Ricard, Wodka or Whisky.
All I know is that Jupiler is the beter beer, surely against Stella Artois which is cat ■■■■■

Eric,

Hey, If it is one of 1971 as it shows, must it one of the very last because it hasn’t still not a roof hatch
and air intake, which came nearly togheter with the 89.
Or already an other cab was mounted ■■?

Eric,

jupilervolvo_61-4d5c234.jpg

It’s a bit of an oddball, no roof hatch and no air stack, which surely makes it a very early 1971 model, but then the wipers should be at the top and the grab handle is post 1973, it’s not a restoration a rivet counter would be happy about… but it is absolutely stunning in my eyes.

Here’s a great assortment sorry about the F10.right to left 240 with a 290 grill, 240, and the F89.

Hey Newmercman,

As it is now again for sell, it should be a '69, wipers on the continent came down end '69.
'69 was a tansitional (hybrid) year, first bigger mirror arms, then new grab handles, then Hella idicators.
And at the end the new cab with the wipers down and a lot other modifications.
And again some time later the new chassis numbering and lots of modifications, lets say a new generation.
The roof hatch and air intake came with the F89
In an other F88 topic here, I have shown with pics how it was envolving.

Hey Cliff, nice pic
but what I don’t understand is dat some companies Always buy through each other 88,89 again 88 or F10 ■■
At ours was only bought after the 88 89’s and then F12’s but Always mixed with Scania to keep competition.
Only one 88 came between the 89’s, because of an urgent need of two 89’s. They would we took the 88 with
them because it was alreay painted but not released because of financial troubles, but had never driven and
luckely it was in the same red as ours done.
And it was kept on short distance work don’t to get fustrated drivers on long or heavy work.

Eric,

More articles referring to the pwer output of the F88:
archive.commercialmotor.com/arti … of-rhd-fbi
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volvo_F88
The CM article rates them at 230 and 291, to BSAu141 net installed. A previous post on here said 230, but I will not find it!
The Wikipedia article rates them at 260 and 312- is that SAE? Volvo’s own literature quoted 260 DIN, 270 SAE.

The difference between the two sets of figures suggests that the latter set are SAE. The difference between DIN and BS141 would be in the region of 5bhp for the “240”, 7 for the “290”, in my estimation.

Thanks Eric, in the UK there were L reg 88s with wipers at the top and chrome grilles and wipers at the bottom with plastic grilles, L reg was Aug 72 to July 73, so I assume that 73 was our changeover year.

Nice Photo there Cliff

Hey,

It looks this had a 260 engine in it ■■?
Must be one of the last with the wipers down and chrome grille in the U.K. ■■? '72 begin '73■■?
Why stayed the wipers longer above in the U.K. ■■? law ■■?
The biggest stupid thing air wipers and were only changed to electric the last two years.
How low can a big name be. :frowning:

Just to add to that newmercman- my Dad bought a new F88 in October 1972,- reg BCJ 789 L, with a chrome grill, and wipers at the bottom of the screen.
The dash was grey paint, seats were red Bostroms. Bought from Griffin Mill (Pontypridd ) , but from their Tram Inn, Hereford branch.
Not that it matters, but it was the first truck I had a night out in. Sometimes, I wish I could remember something useful.

Yeah my Dad had an L reg chrome grille with wipers at the top, grey dash, red seats and bunk and green curtains (what was that about) DDH 22L. It was the first lorry I ever drove all on my own, rather than sat on the old man’s lap. The firm he was on had chrome grille L regs, plastic grille Ms and my Dad got upgraded to an N reg 290 with blue trim and he finished his driving career in that lorry. JJO 615N was it’s number, I’ve still got the keyring to it somewhere, sad lot ain’t we lol

Hey, this is Jupiler too, and gives even a smoother drive.

Eric,

Hey, Pitty I wasn’t the driver. :frowning:

Superb observation skills Sir. That is indeed Janet St Porter. She was studying the Drivers’ Manual thinking, “This is a November 1969 model. Surely the wipers should be at the bottom of the 'screen.”
