And another .
Thank you, matey!
David
My first big truck that I drove legally was a Volvo F88 for A.E.Stuarts and Sons who in the 70,s came from Ottery st.Mary and I used to go as second driver with one of the regular drivers often Ross Stuart on a Saturday evening to Clowne in Derbyshire.I usually tried to sleep in the bunk on the way up then Ross would sleep on the return and me driving, dropping me off in Taunton early Sunday. That is one reason why I haved loved the F88 all my years driving.I went on to drive for A.A.Griggs out of of Watchet Paper Mill where all the trucks were Volvo,we also had some F86,s.Best truck ever made in my book.

Thats really a kind of art.

Hi Jorg hope your well, thanks for that, the model of the Oryx F89 will be at Gaydon on Sat 13 Sept at the Middle East show so you can see it there, also another F89 that I’m just completeing should be finished tomorrow, and that too will be at Gaydon.
Nice old Chilian Volvo, seem to be lots of pics from around the world of abandoned Volvos think I should start a business buying them all and ship em to England seeing the price they are fetching now !!
See you at Gaydon Jorg !
R Jimski
Hi Jimski!
You will need many ships for that project!
But since my first visit in 2001 many, many lorries disappeared, mostly from the fiftis and sixties.
But even today you can see an unbelievable amount of interesting seventies and eighties trucks there.
Mostly Mercedes NG and Scania LB, Volvos can be seen more in Bolivia and Peru.
Have a look at this Photostream from chile, it’s amazing and you need the whole day for that:

See you in Gaydon!

Hey, 290 with closed front grille ■■?
Beautiful 88, but yes black behind the grille would be better, but everyone his cup of thee.
One of the old days in which it looked better with 270 on the bumper.
Bye Eric,
.
Hello Robert. The blue F88 with the cut-away cab roof was new to Fridged Freight of Diss. They ran beef for the US forces between Ireland and Europe in the 70’s and one route they tried was a ferry from Waterford to Cherbourg, avoiding the 32 ton limit in the UK. The ferry operator shared the linkspan in Cherbourg with Townsend Thoresen who had priority so usually the tide was low for off-loading and when driving off the fridge-box damaged the cab roof and the landing legs. When FF closed in 1974 Bobby Martin (RIP) took the motor on. Jim.
